I have always have a lot of time for the guys ‘n gals who flew, armed & serviced these aircraft for real back in the dark days, If it wasn’t for them you may not have the freedom to have a gripe & moan! This is what most of us engineers working on warbirds do it for ( It can’t be for the money!!) I think most BMW or Merc mechanics (sorry, Technicians) earn more, but we enjoy what we do, Don’t we??
    Cheers……………………

You guys to much better job than the BMW or merc guys do in my view.

    Steve.

    Here’s an idea.

Forget about the cost of tying up capital in warbirds, maintenance, hangarage, workforce costs, fuel, rebuilds etc etc.

Just think about insuring the TFC Warbirds.

Do you think the margin from two days of Legends earns them

Ten times the annual insurance costs?

A hundred times the annual insurance bill?

    A thousand times?

I’m interested to know your perception.

Why is nobody mentioning the SIX Rapides / Dominies? A unique event at any airshow anywhere in the world.

    I loved the show (Saturday)

    🙂

    Well said moggy.
I had mentioned the Rapides in another thread i thought they were great and the fact that one was a Original from Croydon Airport days was also special to me.I thought Legends was a great show you will never see anything like the Spitfire Tailchase anywhere else(unless Biggin Hill can do similar with the Gathering of Spitfires they plan to have in september).Just think 2 B25s 2 B17’s 2 Corsairs as well as the treats such as the P39 that makes it a special show and £25 is not expensive football costs more for 90 minutes with no certainty you will enjoy the result.
I think we should be proud that we can see such Aircraft as since september 11th 2001 insurance has rocketed,The owners not fly for profit people lets enjoy the fact we got these Aircraft to see and not moan.

John Bradshaw (Sea Fury pilot) said that he wasn’t going to fly in the show. Airframe and engine hours are too precious ….

She looked great would be nice to see her fly again,But glad to see her at all shes lovely.

To elaborate – I think TFC should be cheered for getting the P-39 here and flying, rather than criticised for not getting the Hawk 75 here.

I agree and theres always september for the hawk anyway and i guess theres still a chance she could be a static at legends.
All i say is well done all involved at TFC and thank you to the restorers for allowing us the chance to see such a rare breed of Aircraft fly.

That happened at the end of May, this “sick Spit” was spotted more recently. I heard the Southend casualty wouldn’t be flying until next season.

Im wondering if its the other Mk19 that was spotted with sounding bad if so i can only say hope all is ok and someone give the BBMF some good luck please.

Neilly, ‘A minor set back…’ Goodluck, that Mossie looks superb…

Andrewman. If you give Corgi a call they have a ‘parts’ department who may be able to help replace some missing parts. Its a free service and the lady that runs it is extremely helpful 🙂 I’ll try dig the number out  if not give directory enquiries!

    Good Luck 😉

I managed to smash the U/C on my Hunter g11 so be intresed if they can sort parts for that.

Surely the referee’s decision was proved correct in the countless replays that were shown anyway? The newspaper’s action was indefensible, in my opinion.

Difficult that one because many experts including Referee’s have said it was a goal. The thing with Football is it creats huge debate and i am sure this decision will always do that. The thing i can not understand is how that game led to idiots smashing up my hometown(god knows what thats ment to prove who they think they were venting their anger on?) but thats another story.
