RobAnt – you’ve got some nice shots, but photos of aircraft don’t have to be of them flying. Learn what your camera can and can’t do and use it within those boundaries. Creativity with a camera will make for a far more memorable shot than having a big camera and lens to get a topside shot. That’s not to say you shouldn’t aspire to such a camera, I’d chop my arm off for a DSLR, but great photos are perfectly attainable with what you’ve got. Regardless of what camera your using, an eye for a photo and abit of imagination and thought into your composition will make a photo stand out.

Get yourself into a spot where you can get nice pics as they taxi in/out, and look for shapes and try different angles with static aircraft etc. Leave the photos of flyers to those with the equpiment. Make the most of what you’ve got. Bringing home a large amount of good taxi/static photos that your pleased with is far better than a card full of iffy flyers you aren’t happy with.

I do agree to a point but a few doctored Air shots is no problem in my view either digital is a great thing and allows a tweak or two so enjoy it.Taxi shots are great especially at Duxford where they go right past you take off the Telephoto mind.

Incidentally, my own view is that I’m not getting enough quality shots from my camera – a Fuji S5000 with 1.5x telephoto (maxing it up to 15x). Some of the shots above have had to be quite heavily processed to get anything useable, and all of them have been sharpened using PSPro at least.

Of course it didn’t help that my first set of batteries ran out after about 6 shots – and I had to survive the day on one set of 1700’s Miss Demeanor was the last quality shot I managed to get 🙁

I might find a couple more though. Watch this space.

I have got Fuji s602 with 6x zoom and a 1.5 telephoto so get less zoom than you wish i had waited until the s5000 came out,but i did not so far i feel i have got some ok photos and i think you have taken some great photo’s here mate you should be proud.

I heard (in UK) that the Reds are thinking of re-equiping with the TYPHOON after it goes into gen Squadron use????

Aerobatics seems to be all Typhoon is good at so could work maybe a 4 ship and they could do a routine bit like the Turbulent team with flour bombing too,it could be great

The R.A.F could not live with out the Red Arrows everyone knows them they best recruiting and pr tool you can have as to the BBMF there would be a outcry if they tried do anything to them and i feel sure the powers to be and Government will not touch them.

Big Brother is the biggest pile of crap on TV and is cheap so called reality show with people who will do anything to be famous,If you put a bunch of wierdo’s together then things will happen thats why channel4 put then in there,I doubt that ther will be many if any more Big Brothers as its ratings are falling that low from what newspapers say.

Paul Bonhomme beats ’em all……Shame that he doesn’t do that many, although he excelled at Donington Park on Saturday. Best display item of the show IMHO.. There’s not many aerobatic displays today that come anywhere near him in terms of aerobatic skills..

I agree Paul is the best but i have enjoyed Will Curtis and his su26 in the past he was not at his best when i saw him at Southend a few weekends ago in my view having said that i think he is a very good show pilot and worth seeing display.
What was wrong with his Cosford show?
