Why Aye Man
We had no way of staying afloat
We had to leave on the ferry boat
Economic refugees
On the run to Germany
We had the back of Maggie’s hand
Times were tough in Geordieland
We got wor tools and working gear
And humped it all from Newcastle to hereWhy aye man, why aye, why aye man
Why aye man, why aye, why aye manWe’re the nomad tribes, travelling boys
In the dust and dirt and the racket and the noise
Drills and hammers, diggers and picks
Mixing concrete, laying bricks
There’s English, Irish, Scots, the lot
United Nation’s what we’ve got
Brickies, chippies, every trade
German building, british-madeWhy aye man, why aye, why aye man
Why aye man, why aye, why aye manNae more work on Maggie’s farm
Hadaway down the autobahn
Mine’s a portacabin bed
Or a bunk in a nissen hut insteadThere’s plenty deutschmarks here to earn
And German tarts are wunderschön
German beer is chemical-free
Germany’s alreet with me
Sometimes I miss my river Tyne
But you’re my pretty fraulein
Tonight we’ll drink the old town dry
Keep wor spirit levels highWhy aye man, why aye, why aye man
Why aye man, why aye, why aye man
Mr Mark Knopfler and his underated talent for lyrics another favourite of mine would be, Its not just Newcastle he can write a good lyric about:D
Silvertown Blues
On Silvertown way the cranes stand high
Quiet and gray against the still of the sky
They won’t quit and lay down though the action has died
They watch the new game in town on the Blackwall side
From the poisonous drains a vision appears
A new circle of cranes, a new reason to be here
A big silver dome rising up into the dawn
Above the church and the homes where all the silver is gone
If I’d a bucket of gold, what would I do
I’d leave the story untold Silvertown blues
Going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
Going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
A silver dawn steals over the docks
A truck with no wheels up on the cinderblocks
Men with no dreams around a fire in a drum
Scrap metal schemes rusted over and done
If I’d a bucket of gold, silver would do
I’d leave the story untold Silvertown blues
And I’m going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
Going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
When you’re standing on thin and dangerous ice
You can knock and walk in for citizens’ advice
They’ll tell you where you can turn, where you can go
There’s nothing they can tell me I don’t already know
If I’d a bucket of gold, silver would do
I’d leave the story untold Silvertown blues
And I’m going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
Going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
From the Canning Town train I see a billboard high
There’s a big silver plane rising up into the sky
And I can make out the words ‘seven flights every day’
Says six of those birds are bound for JFK
If I’d a bucket of gold, silver would do
I’d leave the story untold Silvertown blues
And I’m going down in Silvertown
Down in Silvertown
Going down in Silvertown

Some Tony Bennett or a nice Gregorian Chant with a drop of red…very relaxing!!!
Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin great for that too, Or a bit of Louis Armstrong.

All I know is he retired from music around 1997 and has played no part in the Paul Rodgers+ Queen gigs or album “Cosmos Rocks”.
I did read some years back he felt it was wrong to carry on with somebody replacing Freddie as Freddie was a one off and could not be replaced.
I figure John is probably enjoying his retirement.
Try Wikipedia that may have information on him, Maybe not totally accurate though.

Sad news, 🙁
Sad news, 🙁
It has been a pleasure to see this aircraft in the UK and as with so many other types if it was not for Mr Grey and the Fighter collection it would be a type I would not have seen fly.
The P-39 and P-63 have always intrested me as they are like no other Warbird in the design, The Tricycle undercarriage , mid-engine and those funky car type doors do make it a bit different I think.
I look forward to seeing the Seafury, P-47 and CR42 as well as any suprises they may have soon.
I wondered for a while about cross posting that. My rationale was however that everyone here, almost without exception, would be concerned about the damage to this unique aircraft. As the original title of the thread was something along the lines of “Hurricane down at N Weald” I felt it better to breach copyright and post to reassure people.
There is nothing of embarrassment to Mr Teichmann about the image, we all know these things happen.
In these days of phone cameras such images will invariably appear, you can’t turn the clock back.
Moggy
I think it was the right choice to show the photo, I personally was glad to see it as I then knew that things despite the mishap were not too bad and with a bit of TLC(Time,Love and Cash) she will fly again.
I don’t think its embarrasses anybody and from what I can see everybody here is very much sympathetic and fully supportive of Peter Teichmann and hopes for the Hurri-Bomber to return soon.
Its also fair to say with the press and their spin on things its more rational that a thread such as this should show the photo and clarify things, And prevent further concerns from members.
