It’s obvious that he’s skilled at communicating with the ‘living dead’ – isn’t it ?
Well, he got a response from yourself now, did he not? ;o)

Whilst it is a great feat of Engineering, do we realy NEED the Tunnel ?. The Ferries seemed to be doing the job good enogh before it was built.
A few months ago I had a chat with a couple of truckers who were of a similar mind – when they went by ferry across the Channel there was a fixed time for the crossing where they could rest. Their employer had to take those three to ten hours into account, even if they were not happy with a truck turning up just after a ferry had left so that the driver could relax then too.
Now, apparently, they are given something like two hours to arrive, embark and travel under the Channel; any longer and they have report forms to fill in explaining why they took so long, which goes down on their personal record seemingly regardless of whether anyone believes the driver is at fault or not. Road works, traffic jams, accidents and the like are much more acceptable to the boss since that can be checked on the GPS tracker each truck carries, whereas the Chunnel more or less promotes itself as a turn up and ride thing.
One of the drivers said his manager had previously accused him of using reports of industrial action on the French side as an excuse to pull into a layby just outside Folkestone and get some rest when he should have been driving; both said that French transport companies were worse for this kind of response, putting it down to the French media not reporting the strikes as widely as we get it here.
Ferries are available from several different ports and only seem to get held up by striking ferry workers, fishermen and the weather; the Chunnel is one line arriving in a single location and is perfect as a way for anybody who has a grievance to hold things up and draw attention.

Might be better to ask for this thread to be put on historic – it is about aeroplanes, after all!
It’s been a good few weeks for seaplanes in the North Atlantic and Scotland. There has been the Beech 18 floatplane from Vancouver to Belgium, the Piaggio in this thread and Plane Sailing’s Catalina which has been covering many miles between the UK and Greenland via Iceland during Worksop College’s Operation World First.
Oh, so it wasn’t that one that flew over me a few weeks ago? It was such a particular shape that I interrupted the gentleman I was interviewing, a former member of 22 Regt, to view its passage. He was not as interested and regaled me with stories of the RAF having to navigate by iPhone in Afghanistan or missing a dropzone in daylight despite it being on an airfield with runways, hangers and smoke being let off to assist with wind direction, amongst others.
Strange, I came down to Yorkshire for Brian’s funeral and he never mentioned anything about the arrest.
Had a nice long chat with him, did you? ;o)

“That sounds…disturbing, but I’m sure you have the information to hand that backs this up and an eagerness to share…”
If I could be bothered to respond to that sort of tone I might look and share but I have better things to do
Oooo get you.
But, since you have better things to do than back up claims you made against the police and/or the local authorities, whatever. Would hate for you to miss out on these better things that you need to do.

@Snafu, yes and I would have voted to delete it as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an accident database (ASN is already well established). But I see on the discussion page they are speculating that Bin Laden’s family may have been on board and using that as a justification to keep the article.
BUT… if you look at the bottom of the page it seems that major incidents are covered by Wiki. I was just surprised at how quick someone had been in getting on the case.
TV is no sadder than frittering away ones life on a trivial internet forum?
Go on, name one…;o)
