Referring back to the original post. “Co-pilot”?
That’s a stretch of the English language, isn’t it?
A story I heard recently claimed that someone connected with the current owners were saying they had a UN contract to move military vehicles out of certain African nations, hence the engine runs and general clean-up. I understand there may be a few airport charges to clear first….and then a few regulatory matters.
Well there is certainly a pattern aircraft in the Sydney area. The closed-door Camden museum has one in beautiful condition. At one stage, maybe 20 years ago, they did engine runs.
But they are very much a secret-squirrel organisation, never open to the public. However, they do have Facebook page.
Back in March, there were reports of engine runs from a local group. Nothing since.
That’s enough for a rebuild. Send it to NZ. 🙂
At least it sounds as if they drowned out the announcer, which is a good thing.
Agree about the right hand tyre and u/c on takeoff.
But it didn’t seem to be as “toed-in” in the landing sequence….but I couldn’t see a direct front or rear view.
When I saw her…probably five months ago…they had work stands up, paying attention to the port outboard engine.
The cargo ramp was down as well.
Bringing some life into an old thread.
I was in Cairns last week and had a look at the white Belfast.
The cargo ramp was down on my day of arrival, Wednesday and there was a workstand up against an engine on the Thursday…panels were open and there were folks on the stand.
A question relating to Constellations.
There is one parked at Manila airport, over from the new terminal. (that’s a story in itself!!)
Does anyone have any background on the aircraft…how long it’s been there…future?
Good find. Some interesting, if fleeting views of early days at Amber-field
A great shame it is not open.
The Vengeance itself would make it a worthwhile visit, but it looks sad at the moment…the place is littered with rubbish.
I can recall visiting in the 70s and I’m sure I was told the Vengeance was a runner at the time.
How did they talk the pilots into that! I love the shots around four minutes when one of the pilots climbs out, and then carefully combs his hair. It’s all about the look!
Interesting article
Well done.
That’s better…getting close to a headline.
I may then say…that’s of interest, I’ll read it
