Hi Dave, hope this helps. If you need any further assistance then please let me know.
Good luck with the model, and I’d love to see a photo of it when completed :applause:

I was always amazed that owners allowed Karwowski to fly their aeroplanes. He was essentially a stunt pilot not a display pilot and it came as no surprise at all that he died in an accident. Just one risk too many.

Interesting! Personally I always enjoyed Stefans displays especially in the Bearcat, for which I understand he had a great fondest and had hoped to one day own his own example.
And I always understood that the cause of his tragic death was the aircraft letting him down – not his flying ability!?

One of the most important is the physical task of finding the material. I think a lot of people would be astonished to know just how difficult it can be these days. For example, returning to the subject of Phantoms, I put a lot of effort into getting access to the countless images in the McDonnell archives. But they now belong to Boeing, and getting even a handful of images requires weeks of processing and a huge amount of money that is simply unaffordable. http://www.aeroplaneicons.com

That’s something I personally find very frustrating. The national museums have literally thousands of images and negs that have never seen the light of day – and probably never will!
I am not sure on the quality of magazines . Looking at the spread of subjects covered in early FlyPasts – you would be hard pressed to recognise it now
In comparison. I think in the late eighties the cult of the warbird started to affect both Aeroplane and FlyPast – that has been to the detriment of everything else.
Indeed. As much as I like Flypast in my opinion it has moved away from grass roots preservation since the early days!

Looks like a Fairey Spearfish Matt.

Thanks John and David :).
Bruce – it was a company called Win Born products, situated in Waterbeach just north of Cambridge.

Got around to picking up the laser cut set of ally instrument panels today for the Wyvern S.4. So now for a little fitting and fettling of the instruments when time permits!

Bravo gentlemen :applause:
Rob
Some fantastic photos appearing on this thread – thank you!
Rob
Interesting film thanks for posting up. Is that really an Allison V12 running in that skeletal looking P-40 near the start?

In this day and age the first flight for “Doc” is going to be some achievement. Really looking forward to this one seeing daylight under its wings once again.

Just to be clear, the Drover will be coming to Staverton, but won’t be part of Jet Age Museum’s collection. One of our trustees, Darren Lewington, who is also the Airport’s Operations Director is acquiring the airframe. Darren grew up in Southend and has fond memories of regularly visiting the Historic Aircraft Museum, where the Drover was an inmate.
Thanks for the clarification.
Rob
Totally agree, 100% !
Rob
Well done to the Jet Age team, as another (together with the Leeming Javelin) airframe is saved from scrapping.

I was on ” Eagle ” with 804 Squadron, Seahawks, in 1954-55 and have quite a few photos of this era. ” Winkle ” Brown was our CO. I will see if I can post photos of this time. 802 also Seahawks, 813 Wyverns, 849 Gannets, 845 Whirwinds.
As I’ve said before, bleeming, a photographic contribution from yourself would be very welcome (especially of Wyverns :applause:)
Rob
Ok thanks. Will send you a PM Denis.
