Thanks Gary, but I would of hoped that if they knew how to contact him then they would of replied to the thread already – instead of just deleting the first one!
Rob
Just bumping this up if anyone knows him. I don’t think he’s posted on here for a couple of years now, if he’s still around?!
Anyone?
Rob
Just sitting on the fence but as ever it’s important and correct to hear both sides of the story. Also good to hear from the horses mouth so to speak that the project has “not been cancelled”.
I’m sure Bill and the teams amazing restoration and resurrection skills will be utilised elsewhere and I look forward to Bluebirds continued progress towards completion!
Rob
Indeed DB, but unless there is a serious plan of what happens to it after its recovery then I sincerely hope it stays unrecovered..!
Rob
Thanks FB, I thought it looked odd but I couldn’t place the type!
Rob
This very nice control wheel was sold on eBay recently (not to me I might add) but I’d like to know what type it came from please?

Hi Dave, it’s username Dave G that I’m trying to contact, was that you?
Rob
Well they’ve got a bid. The “hot rod” 880 as a type is one of my favourite airliners but I wonder why Graceland is getting rid of this one, seeing as it’s quoted as being one of the most popular exhibits!
Rob
Windover, thickness of the shaft is 4mm by 15mm and I’d be happy with red or brown. Do you have one available by chance?
Rob
Ok thanks. Pity that cuts down my chances of an original then!
Rob
Thanks to QS for the link to the new one, just wondering if anyone has a good used original going spare before I go for a newey?
Please!
Rob
That looks like the one, QS. Pm sent.
Rob
Nice attention to detail. I know it hasn’t been completed for very long but how’s the external paintwork bearing up to Elvingtons weather?
Rob
Doug, it’s on the Euromillions “to do list”.
Arguably I guess 1999 can now be considered “historic”, and somewhere I’ve also got a signed photo of Anatoly Kvotchur (spelling?) banging out of I think a MiG-29 at Paris, literally just before it crashed. I’m just wondering if there’s any other photos kicking around of close calls from earlier times – but not necessarily from the UK!.
Rob
Another Meteor in trouble, as photos on FB show this to still be languishing over the back at Duxford.
I take it this means that the owners asking price is still beyond reality!? 🙁
