Great project Herbert, you’ve made a really good start with the panels already acquired. Good luck !

There is (or was) an architectโ€™s model of the, presumably proposed, RAF Hendon Museum on display at the museum…

…and parked out on the grass in front of it…..is a Whitley bomber?

    Iโ€™ve got a photograph somewhere.

Yes, there still is in the Grahame White building. I saw it yesterday.

Here’s a date for your diary, the museum is holding a ‘Friends of the Eighth’ audio – visual presentation, at the Royal British Legion in Bottisham near Cambridge on Saturday the 22rd June at 4pm. Everyone welcome and there will be a cash bar open for refreshments.

For details please see the poster below

The wind here seems to be getting stronger, as the airfield windsock is practically horizontal at times.

    Edit… it is horizontal !

Ahh the pennies dropped, now i know what you mean. I thought you meant being able to walk through and upto the cockpit rather than just from side to side ๐Ÿ˜‰

    But thanks for the confirmation.

The aircraft was a walk-through exhibit in Hangar One and elsewhere for many years – I’d forgotten the paratroop seating but remember the wind-down windows in the cabin!

Really? My memory must be playing tricks with me, as i cannot remember any sort of access to the aircrafts interior. But thanks for the ‘reminder’.

I can’t help looking at that beautifully restored and presented interior in the Amiot, and thinking what a shame it is that the paying public never actually got to see and appreciate what it was like inside a paratrooper transport aircraft ๐Ÿ™

    Great shots as always gents!!

Only a matter of time until the wildcat gets air under its wings. Out of curiosity, how is the hellcat progressing?

When i was in there yesterday it was still up on jacks, possibly for u/c retraction tests. Its when you see it close up that you realise what a big brute the Hellcat is !

Extremely sad the pilot lost his life but it looks like it could of been a lot worse.

Its your project fella, and seeing as you have taken the brave step of saving the nose section in the first place i guess its only fair you restore her to the spec of your choice.

And personally i’d be happy to see a joint Sea Harrier / Victor thread, that way its easier to keep upto date with both projects.
Just my twopenith, and good luck ๐Ÿ™‚
