    I second that. The unions of the day had a lot to answer for. You only have to look at the British car manufacturing industries of the sixties and seventies, just riddled with strikes and walk-outs which in turn led to shoddy workmanship and a complete lack of pride in the work place and its products.

    Labour – never !!! Its an absolute joke that they can sit there at PM questions and ridicule another parties efforts to correct the total **** up that their parties government caused in the first place.

    I voted UKIP last time and would do so again !!

    There was a pic in Flypast mag on one occasion of the Lanc landing on three. Quite possibly the same incident i guess cabbage!

    I do indeed remember what was a major heart stopping moment. But i can’t remember what stunned me the most.. seeing her veer off like that or the fact that the undercart held up and didnt collapse.

    eddywinch82 – i thought i read somewhere that it had more to do with a brake problem on touchdown which caused her to veer to one side, rather than a crosswind?! :confused:

    Ndege, there is / was a scrappy at nearby Starlings Green that had aviation related parts in at times, but i’m sure the Mossie was mentioned as being in Wicken Bonhunt… somewhere. Anything more than that i don’t know i’m afraid… hence my original question.

    But i would be interested to know what your local 90 yr old lady has to say. She sounds like she has a tale or two to tell :).

    Thanks to this thread and some help from a member of the RAF Museum i have managed to track down a fascimile of the Sturgeon schedule of spare parts. Inside of which it lists the pilots seat as a plastic type AS.2101. Does anyone know if this is a generic type seat (I guess member Air Ministry might know)?

    Edit.. here’s a view of the back of the pilots seat

    I’m looking for a Dunlop AH8763 27J/249 spade grip if anyone has a nice and original one at a reasonable price? I believe its a less sought after type without the selectric firing button – but just having the large ‘press to transmit’ button positioned to the left of top centre.

    Also thanks to Jack Ruskin i now have the undercarriage position indicator that i was looking for, as shown in post #62 🙂

    James, the crew were Lt. RC Andrew, Lt WR Heathcote, and Lt AJ Wray. XL476 lost her nosewheels on take off from Hermes but diverted to Ark Royal where she entered the barrier, and amongst other things ended up with a badly damaged fin.
