    Shuttleworth AND early jets. I think that might tempt me to attend this one :). Be interesting to see if the F-86 Sabre makes it, as of last Friday at Dx it had the rear fuselage re-attached but they had forgotten to put the engine back in :D.

    A quick then and now post. The first one was taken 25/7/93 with the late Mark Hanna at the controls, the second on friday afternoon at more or less the same point apart from a slightly different viewpoint.

    Interesting to see the two different types of windscreen used. Canadair and Lockheed maybe?

    Carry On Camping. Mr Muggins the hitchhiker (Charles Hautrey) comes across a young farm girl leading a cow down a lane;

    Charlie – Oh hello, i say what are you doing with that old cow?

    Young girl – I’m taking her to the bull

    Charlie – Oh couldn’t your father do it

    Young girl – No, it has to be the bull 😀

    I agree. That canopy – windscreen assembly really gives it a character all of its own. Must of been a complete b@stard to bail out of though!

    Hope it finds a good home too.

    Best photo so far on this thread is the two Gnats taking off. For me they were one of the stars of the show.

    Nice photos of a very good day. I always find Bruntingthorpe quite a magical but also a friendly, relaxed place, with so much going on involving mostly actual live airframes. And for me its not just the fast runs that make this a worthwhile event. Watching and hearing the aircraft taxi back round the perimeter after their runs makes me feel quite nostalgic. The Cold War Jets days are now eagerly anticitated by me.

    Also i have to agree about the RAF Landrover, and indeed the LPG’s old (and battered) Transit crew bus. Having period ground support vehicles there too all adds to the atmosphere and general ‘active’ feel of the place :).

    I’m sure if there was any ‘worrying’ to do the CAA would of already done it. Several years and hundreds if not thousands of safe pleasure flights must count for something.!

    Nice. Watching her at Duxford yesterday i must admit to feeling a little sad at the thought of ‘558’ becoming a static airframe in the not too distant future, just like the rest of these great V-bombers scattered around the UK, etc. The next twelve months or so really will be her swansong.

    So enjoy that airborne sight and sound while you can guys.
