On a very early 80’s video i have of a GWAD there is a clip of G-FIRE being ‘scrambled’ by Chris Bevan. Certainly looked and sounded nice on take off.

Yes i text Tim earlier this evening, and the antibiotics are making him feel absolutely terrible. Really feel for him with all the ups and downs he’s experiencing. And as RearGunner says, hang in there mate!
Cheers mate, appreciate that :). The Sturgeon is more of a back burner project, but i do know that there is an original panel out there for that one. So, maybe one day :cool:. But the difference with Sturgeons is that there are no crash sites for parts, either on land or at sea. They were all scrapped. Never a glamorous type, and there were only 28 to start with.!
Rob
I like to think Dave that out there, somewhere, are some genuine panels.. either bare or complete. And if they ever became available that i might be given the chance of adding them to what i already have. Reproduction panels is an option, although for now thats not really what i want to spend my money on. But, i have been collecting relevant instruments as and when they turn up so i’m not counting anything out completely. After all, who would of thought that not one but two windscreen sections would turn up! 🙂
Rob
Thanks ian_. The original TF.1 did indeed use a spade grip, as did arguably most other mid to late 40’s fighter types. The later turboprop engined Wyverns reverted to pistol grips inline with contemporary jet types. At the moment i’m just making up a makeshift column.
Nice panels by the way. I’m sure someone on here with Meteor pilots notes etc could identify the ‘other’ panel for you. Also are you going any further with the panels, like a cockpit section etc?
Rob
Ahh, yes, that would be South Yorkshire then :o. Apologies all yorkshiremen. So did you come across the windscreen before hand then Jon?
Rob
John – Thanks for the kind comments… much appreciated!!
James – Thanks again mate. The AC1400 comes complete with a job card, having been re-conditioned in service. And the best bit is its ex Royal Navy (quite fitting really).
Needless to say the ole bank balance has taken a beating just recently :).
Benyboy – I believe when it was originally acquired and bought to the Doncaster area it was thought to be from a different type, having been labelled as such. It was only when DC saw it in the flesh that it was identified as Wyvern.

Wyvern project
Some of the additions i’ve made recently;
Pic 1 – Thanks to Bruce i now have the correct issue GGS for the S.4. But i’m still looking for a Type 2 Mk.1 8B/2860 retractable mounting.
Pic 2 – In the space of two weeks i came across both types of stick top, as fitted amongst other types to turboprop Wyverns. On the left an AC1400 = TF.2 and early S.4, on the right AC10300 = late S.4. Both complete and in working order.
Pic 3 – Following a tip off from the eagle eyed Dave Collins and a trip by me upto South Yorkshire i managed to acquire another windscreen section. This one being in superb condition. It differs from the other one that i have in that it is from an earlier TF.2 pre-production aircraft, with different fittings where it meets the face of the earlier type of canopy. I’m still looking for a curved and hinged front aerodynamic section though to complete the windscreen. The same trip also yielded a nice early MB seat safety pin and disc.
