Don’t want to go too deep on this one, but in my view its a poor oversight that successive British govts of a sea faring nation such as this have not seen fit to preserve one aircraft carrier.

    Just my opinion!

Not specifically Hurricane related but i remember when Hawker Hunter ‘Misdemeanor’ (spelling?) was leaking fuel at i think Kemble and the rumour mill kicked into top gear.
Yet within hours the owner/pilot had made a statement surrounding the incident and cause, and all of a sudden the rumours stopped.!

Shame about that lovely Meteor, as that cockpit section looks to be sitting directly on the ground. Dread to think what the damp is doing to the metalwork!

Very nice recovery. Soft ground, not too deep and everything beautifully preserved!

Great link curlyboy.. lots of great memories. Good to see pics again of the Trident and Comet 4 arrivals as well as the more well known B29 and B52 etc.

Incidentally the Gannet AEW.3 at the 1975 airshow was XL502, now preserved at Elvington.

Was the attractive blue Fouga Magister G-BKSY once owned albeit briefly by Stephen Grey? I remember it flying only once at Dx!
