    Wyvernfan – the URL I posted further up this page also shows a white top.

    Yup so it does. Missed that as it blends in more with the silver :o.

    Have to say this excellent pic by AMB is a new one on me. Never seen a Sea Prince in white / silver / dayglo before. Was this a one off or a regular colour scheme of the time?

    The 1963 Air Day was a Saturday and my notes state that a Wyvern was half burnt on the fire dump. VW873 but I have no photo of it regretably.

    Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but here’s another view of her to add to those originally posted by bms44… and at the time the last surviving S.4 but scrapped soon after :(.

    Yes amazing collection of aircraft, especially the runners. And considering there is no hangarage available in pretty good condition too.

    Its top of my list for a visit this summer :).

    Thursday April 21st:

    Absolutely nothing happened at Duxford today, and here are the photos to prove it:

    Shame you didn’t hang around for the low back Spitfire that just displayed then 😉

    Talk of the Duxford MR.3 reminds me of the time that my father was a security guard there;
    Not long after she had flown in and joined the collection, there began to appear a collection of ciggy butts inside the fuselage. Thinking these belonged to teenagers gaining access to the aircraft after dark (no fences in them days) my father was planning on spending the night inside her, to try and catch the culprits red handed. But before he needed too it turned out to be a museum member who had been popping inside for a smoke break :rolleyes::p.
