Ok thanks Rich. Just wondered if you ever had problems with cylinders firing through damp plugs etc. My knowledge is only based on car engines!

Rich, after a period of remaining dormant, before you start the engines on WR963 are there any preparations that need to be done to them first or is it a case of ‘turn the key and cross yer fingers’?

Hi Tony,
Did you ever come across any more photos of the Wyverns parked at Lossiemouth prior to or during their scrapping in 1959?

Wyverns of 831 were initially assigned to HMS Eagle but eventually embarked on Ark Royal sometime in early 1956, and left around December 1957 when it returned to RNAS Ford and was disbanded.
In June 1957 the Squadron was cross-operating its Wyverns with the aircraft of the USS Saratoga.

Wyvern stores ref 26FS. Part numbers in the range WA1 – 4.

I’m not seeing that MM, just a Movietone showreel… no sight or mention of Seahawks or Wyverns.

MM you little beauty. Those are i believe Wyverns VZ795 ‘387’ and WN333 ‘382’ of 831 Sqdn. Not sure about the one on the right as the serial / sqdn code is obscured.

Its the one on the left Propstrike. One on the right is a Wildcat / Martlet!
