Exactly. What a ridiculous notion to compare one of todays mostly widely used airliners / freighters to Comets and BAC 1-11’s from decades ago. :rolleyes:
Yup same field, same month and it started in virtually the same spot. There seemed to be an airfield fire engine quickly on the scene but not much happened as to actually putting the fire out. And once the wind got hold of it that was that.
Anyway no-one was hurt which is the main thing.

Thanks for the info EH.. that explains it… but never seen a Herc being flown in that way before.
Sorry James, from where i am i can clearly see its a Herc, through binoculars.. but as for colours or which one i’m afraid they’re not that powerful ;).
To be honest i’m too far away to capture it properly on vid.. but i have to say when i first saw it my initial words rhymed with ‘clucking bell’. Truly amazing. 🙂
The ‘108’ is actually, give or take a couple of feet either way, of similar size to the ‘109’. Where it differs considerably is in weight (109 is heavier) and in power (109 is vastly more powerful). Hope that helps.
