Maybe there were two Ford V8’s of that size. I seem to remember reference to a 351 Cleveland and a 351 Windsor. Perhaps it was the Windsor that was a 5.8.
I do remember, though, that the XC Falcon/Fairmont came with a number of engine options, the size marked in cc’s on the front wing panel behind the front wheel: 200 c.i./3.3 six; 250 c.i./4.1 six; 302 c.i./4.9 V8; 351 c.i./5.8 V8. The 351 carried a ‘5.8’ badge. The posher Fairlane had just the two V8 engines.

The main differences between Cleveland and Windsor V8’s is in the name, as that is where they were produced in the US.

As for the 5.8 badge, well thats a new one on me. The Ford 302cu small block V8 is always a 5 litre to me.. the 260 was 4.2 litre and the 289 was 4.7 litre, as fitted to the Sunbeam Tiger. I guess in the end its just what your used to.

I remember those. That will be the celebrated 351 V8 that saw service in most top-line Australian Fords in the seventies. I think, though, it was a 5.8 (5751 cc), the GM 350 being a 5.7.

Ford 351 Cleveland classed as 5.7 litre. Chevy 350 also classed as 5.7 litre. Ford never marketed a 5.8 litre V8 as far as i know. Landau was similar to the Mad Max V8 interceptor, although that was really the Landau’s sister model, the Falcon XB GT coupe.
