Great pics, but that Seafury is a new one on me. Where was it operated from and for how long..?. fantastic looking example too. And as for Ray in the Spit, that has to be the lowest i have seen one flown, especially without wings level.!

Wyvernfan, if you remain seated at the front you have the fence in the way. No a great problem for flying shots but it’s a bit of a problem for taxying shots. If you get there early enough to grab a spot at the front then it’s up to you whether you stand or sit.

Robbo, my way of thinking was that as it is a low fence then leaning forward on your seat and looking over would give a decent view, its not always necessary to stand.
And yes perhaps you are right about the decision to stand or not.. but if you have made the effort to arrive early and then should get held up for some reason beyond your control, would you still be happy with that sentiment.?

I made a big effort to get to Kemble early, and having arrived around 9 ish i preceded to look for a decent space at the front. The best i could subsequently manage was the “2nd row”. Not bad you might think. Until the guy at the front decided to start standing on his metal camera box so he could see round the corner. 🙁

NEC toyfair Birmingham (early entry cost £10.00)… i have seen one guy in particular hanging around the traders carpark and, when sighting a trader struggling with his load of stock, wander over and mutter the words “you want a hand with that lot mate”. Invariably the trader says no i’m fine, but this guy only needs to get lucky once to be able to walk in with the trader and avoid paying.

Maybe so.. but if you are made an offer for something there is nothing forceing you to sell it. Also unless you use buy it now or have a fixed reserve you have no control on the amount you get for something on ebay.. quite the opposite at fairs.

And as Bruce said, there is just as good a chance of something selling for 10p one week and £10 the next.
The point i was making was that if you want £50 for something and accept £40 then thats your choice, don’t bleet if later on it makes £100 on ebay. It could just as easily make £10.. at which point i doubt those stallholders will be complaining.!

Probably not since Mark Hanna’s display’s in the OFMC ex-Iraqi Fury back in the mid 90’s…?
Still vividly recall a Legends where Mark in the Fury and Stephen Grey in the Bearcat did a scintilating high speed tight pairs tail chase sequence back in the mid 90’s…. 😎

Just splitting hairs but i always thought it was Ray and not Mark in the Fury… light heartedly boasting that anything the Bearcat could do the Fury could do just as well.!

Its why I stopped running a very succesful aerojumble, Bruce.

E-Bay killed it really. That and increased site rental, insurance, marquee hire etc etc etc. Not only that, but increasing numbers of stallholders told me how dispriting it was to sell an item for £50 at the jumble…..then find it on e-bay when they got home that evening for £100 !.

Never understand that philosophy. If i sell something for £50, and then the guy goes away and sells it on his stall or on ebay for £100 then best of luck i say. I got what i wanted for it so whats the problem? It all boils down to greed and thinking that you missed out on making more money instead of being happy with what you originally wanted.

In my line of work i buy and sell old and collectable toys, some make a tenner others makes hundreds or even thousands. Now at every toy fair i go to before the general public comes in i go around looking for items on other stalls that i can sell on at a quick profit.. everyone does it and that is accepted, except by the blatantly greedy.

Now if i go to toyfair after toyfair with the same old stock then yes people will not bother coming and instead will stay at home and browse on ebay.. they may have to pay a bit more plus postage but hey if you get what your looking for then who cares!?

I personally don’t like alot of things about ebay either, and yes because of it toyfairs are becomeing a dieing breed. But times and fashions change, and unless we move with it we get left behind.

Just as an afterthought its interesting to note how many people are now contacting me direct for items instead of using ebay.. simply because they have been ripped off time after time by dodgy sellers and prefer to use someone they trust. Mud sticks as they say..!

Thanks Andy.. poignant pictures indeed. The condition of the fuselage paint and markings is incredible. Was that section removed long ago or has it been exposed to the elements until recently.?
