    The recovered items were on display in Hanger 3 at Waddington airshow last weekend.

    Be nice to see any pics if anyone has any.!?

    Ok thanks for that. It seems that man and machine gave an incredible amount of joy to so many last weekend, including myself, and i’m sure we all appreciate the effort involved in bringing her to the UK.. so lets wish all those involved in her ‘remedial work’ the very best of luck.:)

    what ever happened to the remains of the British Aerospace Example that tragically crashed in 96?

    What a loss to the Airshow scene was such a great performer

    I think it was literally that, just remains… totally destroyed.!

    As many of them are getting older and more fragile each year, this one is in good shape and could be worth a try.

    Sounds more like a Ford Anglia than an actual person.!

    Why does’nt he just post the prices in the first place? In my line of work if something is marked up people can still look and walk away.. but if its reasonable and catches there eye then you have a better chance of making a sale rather than them thinking “hmmm, bet thats expensive”.!

    Hmmm.. that could explain why she departed Dx today with undercart down, and was still apparently so when seen over Southend later on.

    Incidentally, I’ve read some of the wingeing comments on here, Legends was fantastic, and I’ve been to most of them, greatness born out of adversity I say, whats wrong with some of you people, have you given up on life.

    Indeed.. and when you consider that Stephen Grey could upsticks and move his entire collection to France (or anywhere else for that matter) at any moment he chooses, especially with all the added paperwork and aggravation that his brainchild is experiencing right now, it may be a good idea to stop wingeing and just enjoy what you see while you can. And because of the way things are going, the display and overseas participation we witnessed at Duxford this weekend just won’t happen in the future.!

    Spitfire & 190 low over Southend the 190 had her gear down :confused:

    Sea Fury & ? followed close behind

    Yes, Fw190 took off from Dx with Spitfire and left following a small private plane.. and she disapeared from view still with her gear down. Even stranger was the Spit weaving from side to side as she followed behind in the distance.!:confused:

    Blue Seafury took off alone and departed shortly after.. so maybe she ended up with the private ‘escort’.

    Yes i think i read it in the book ‘Gannet From The Cockpit’ no7. The ‘rope starter’ was an unofficial practice that was stopped when on one occasion things did’nt quite go according to plan. Incidentally for anyone with an interest in the aircraft i can highly recommend buying a copy of the book.

    I think there were also prop tip ‘gloves’ to protect them and crews, are these what you are reffering to?

    What i have seen appears to be some sort of rope affair, in a ‘figure of 8’ style about half way up the blade. Very simple and nothing like what i have!

    Yes it was. Not sure if was John who displayed there in it, but in all likelihood it probably was…

    Lovely shots Huw.. but sadly it looks like the Sabre is returning to the states at the end of this season. It will be sadly missed.:(
