Yes good point about the hook and flaps. Be interested to see the other pics in the sequence mind.. just to complete the story.
Nice one Jon. Looks like lots of work to be getting on with but what a fantastic base to start from. That windscreen is a superb piece too. 🙂
FANTASTIC.!!!
I have always vowed when (if?) i ever won the euro milions to buy a rare warbird and paint it lime green with pink spots……:D
Sounds abit like what Stephen Grey and the late Stefan Karwowski had planned tongue in cheek. Springing a MiG-21 from behind the iron curtain, painting it pink, and terrorising the airshow circuit with it. 😀
I agree with DP.. its more than likely than this generous individual was watching to see if the amount needed could be raised without them, but as the deadline was getting ever nearer they decided it was time to step forward and help it over the final hurdle.
Whatever the case may be lets just be thankful that they cared enough to actually put such a large amount money into the pot. 🙂
As far as i’m aware the trials were relatively successful, i have somewhere a clip of it landing at Farnborough and engaging reverse thrust.. quite impressive. But i think it was deemed unnecessary and not taken any further. What happened to it after i don’t know.
Shaharom, thanks for the info on the missing airman.
NightReaper, that is one of the nicest pics i have seen of a Brigand… thanks for posting it.
Blimey.. that reminds me of the Mini Coopers going into the back of the coach in the original Italian Job movie. That salt water can’t be much good for the airframe though i would’nt of thought.
I seem to recall that in the Cobham Hall facility the FAAM have a pair of Seamew undercarriage oleos.
Botha.. of course… I knew I had seen that in the past somewhere whilst researching cockpit Throttle boxes!
My sister gave me a heads up that this was on tv. Interesting find but a bit disappointing that they didn’t show much more than an engine – presuming there is more?!
Not unexpected but still a very very sad (for me anyway) outcome. Thank goodness the ‘big Bev’ has faired far better!
I too considered it meaning ‘Air Training Wing’, but Ive seen one of these bells dated 1945 and removed from an Avro Lancaster Pathfinder Squadron airfield – and so was struggling to see the connection!
Yes I came across that in my search, Oracal, but I don’t think it gave me an answer!
