Quite a mix of A/C, RAF C-47 up front with ASAAF, P-38s, P-51s, B-24s. I see at least one A/C with invasion stripes so that puts it post June 6, 1944. Odd mix of A/C IMHO.
Very nice, and two birds on my “Yet to see” list, the 109-G and the Curtiss Hawk. Looks like a nice day to boot!
Thanks for sharing
It looks like the auto focusing issue is the only one I can find. Just shoot on nice sunny days! Here is what Canon says about it
Teleconverters are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm. However, full AF operation is only possible with lenses with open aperture of f/2.8 or brighter. Please be aware that AF will work properly only if there is enough light and contrast on the subject to activate the camera’s AF sensors. Manual focusing is recommended when using lenses with smaller open f-stop value than those given above.
Here is a list of airshows to dig through
http://www.airshows.org.uk/2007/calendar/june.html
My eyes are too tired. The lists too long, Though I did glean from the lists that Hangar 11 will at least be at The Tattoo-Fairford, July 14-15 and Shormam Sept 15-16
Lots of shows to dig through
The Harold Kindsvater Buchon was a “Red 5” in the BoB film from what I have found, so this is a different bird. Still looking.
I don’t recall seeing snow on the ground in any of the film shots?!?:D
I know there is a small museum here in Florida somewhere that had a K-Ship display and memorial, though I doubt they can afford the space and cost of shipping. The natural fit, imho, would be the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Large facility, deeper pockets, and the expertise to do it up right. I have no contacts there, but there web is
http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/
The K-ships were stationed here in Florida during the war and the only one shot down by U-Boat was stationed here. So there is a deep history of them locally.
THe Smithsonian NASM would also be a good fit, but with the size of their collection, projects in waiting, it probably would not resurface for 20 years!
Here is their mail address and phone # if that is of any help
Duxford Airfield, The Airfield, Duxford

Their email may be taied to their web site and if so it would be down as well except for personal e-mail addresses.
Good luck
What is the f-stop range on the lens? I know I have seen warnings that the doubler is NOT recomended if the F is too high on the lens, at least with the digital SLR.
Ahhh, we have a winner. My son Googled it up for me.
It is a Air Cadet Buckle (matches the one they have on their cap) for U S Army Air Corps/Force.
No problem, they have so much interesting stuff at their site and it is updated regularly. They have a large collection of photos and artifacts as well that you can do a search on with decent resolution pics.
I have got to get by there sometime when they are open, it always seems to be closed when we drive by. A mere 400 miles away, not exactly a day trip. They have a great Naval Aviation collection. Probably one of the best in the world for Naval Air.
” I’m telling you, if you paint it like a target tug, you had better be towing a target or they might just shoot at you!”
So…do you think it will be at……
Bit of a memorial piece…..lost another one. RIP
An interesting wreck that might draw a good bit of interest would be that of the Glen Miller (of big band fame) wreck. In 1944, while flying from England to France…dissapeared. THe single engine C-64 Norseman was found by diver Clive Ward in 1985 in an RAF Bomb jetteson area over the chennel. An account from Lancaster crewmen stated they had seen a low flying Norsman “spin in” from their bomb concussion.
Lots on info on the web, very mysterious
