Search on for Bundaberg WWII bunkers

The Defence Department will use the latest technology to try and confirm if there are any World War II bunkers under Bundaberg city airport.
The Bundaberg City Council says the military will use a ground penetration radar and magnetic sub-surface equipment to look for bunkers in airport land.
It has long been local legend that there are underground bunkers left from the war at the airport.
Mayor Kay McDuff says they should know by the end of the year if there is anything there.
“These are very advanced technologies and no doubt will come at quite a cost,” she said.
“All I can say is that the council is very appreciative of their response and we hope that we will have some results from their work by the middle of the year.”
Here is a link to her tour schedule for the Spring Tour. All west coast it seems:( , That is West Coast US.
Get out there and support her. Who knows how much longer they can keep her flying.
The Ju87 could carry that nasty load. IF my readings are getting it fight, the Ju88 and the He111 could carry the beast externally, one at a time. Later in the war, a beefy version of the Fw190 could carry one!
According to this web site
http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/us/jorgensenpbypreview.htm
it does have the bigger 6A tail. Gives a good description of the kit.
Would that last pic be the “White One” er…not quite….Black 3?? FW190? My best guess.
Nice pics. Now can we have your impression in words of your experience? Looks to be a very fun experience.
Can you say “Pre-Flight”?!?!?! It isn’t just for stretching the pilots legs before the flight!
I have seen the P-51C fly over there. Very Cool!! Love that sound. Also watched the Fi Storch fly, or should I say, turn into the wind and JUMP.
The German surface raiders roamed far and wide. Sank MUCH more shipping than the rest of the surface navy combined at a fraction of the cost. Tied up a lot of resources in searching for them and trying to sink them.
Here is a link to more specifics on this raider

Noorduyn Norseman perhaps? There had been Noorduyn Norseman down that way as well. Looks to be a similar shape…..hard to tell from the one pic
Found one at this site, not sure if it is the model you are after, looks like vehicle mount type.

Good luck with your “project”. Anything near the coast, sea air…..say no more!!! Bare aluminum sounds like big trouble!
Truly a great job in the field! Here is a link to an antarctic blog full of photos. A bit of the way down is the repaired A/C, and quite a bit further down is a series of shots of the crash. Quite amazing that it was recoverable.
Photo’s 4, 5 and 6 seemed to show quite a few wings, Article said they were being held there and bit by bit shipping to Missouri. Can’t find a trace on the net! Did see a forum by the owner of the A/C, a John Gibson, inquiry looking for T-28 projects/parts bit it was several years old.
The hunt goes on…….
Here is a link to some pics and more info
This will pay the bills!!:dev2: 😀
Looks like they got their story!!!:D
Reminds me of the movie “Always” Have to rent that one and watch it again. Lots of great A/C shots.
