Bloody freeloaders

My mistake actually – I thought you were referring to distances from Ibis and University to Lincoln, not Waddo
Thank you Delta Papa……
I don’t read every thread especially not last year as I was not present so I did not read the post and response made last year….
VX927, I did see the minibusses but presumed they were for shuttling aircrew around the airfield site as opposed to transporting them to various hotels. Hotel Ibis is certainly a lot further out than the University accomodation, which was a few minutes walk from Lincoln, whereas the Ibis is several miles out
Chox, what are your wide sources of feedback from the public and enthusiasts that inform you that the vast majority were dissapointed?
Chox, as I previously mentioned, most of the reviews on UKAR are positive. When you say the vast majority thought it was rubbish, are you referring to the enthusiasts or the public as a whole?
I’ve just checked and the Ibis hotel is well outside of Lincoln and wasn’t on any bus route (only the Pavilion and University was, as well as Holiday Inn if requested), so i’d be surprised if it was provided free of charge as the crews would have no way of getting there by airshow provided transport
I was on the 7.30 bus on both days so I could be by the Auster while the public were around, there was no mention of the busses just being for aircrew
Thanks Mark, I wasn’t aware of that as all the crew I were on coaches with all went to either University or Pavilion accomodation
It was mentioned on the UK Airshow forum here
http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=492&p=127728&hilit=ibis#p127728
that the Vulcan crew were seen in the Ibis Hotel. Out of interest, why was the decision made to stay at the Ibis Hotel, which presumably, came out of money raised for the Vulcan, when free accomodation was provided by the Airshow Organisers?
‘almost everybody who went thought it was a waste of money’ – like who? I saw plenty of happy people at the airshow, and comments on here and the UK Airshow forum are mainly positive
The Polish as mentioned were great – personally my favourite aircraft of the show was their CASA 295 in static, had a good selection of merchandise and got to sit in the pilot seat, lovely!
Loved it personally. Had quite a lot of interest in the private a/c I was with and even managed to get at least three new members for the Auster club, as already mentioned unless I managed to miss a large section of the airfield there was only one Hunter. Huge gaps in flying probably due to various pull outs, personally I felt the organisers did a good job of rearranging it. I also saw plenty of people watching the samba band as well.
During the display at Waddington today the commentator mentioned that the Blades had very recently (can’t remember the timescale mentioned) performed their first display at a wedding, so presumably that
Superb weekend – seeing the Phantom arrive on Friday was a great sight, and thanks to 8 Squadron for their hospitality. Loved the flying displays – can’t decide which I preferred out of Patrouille de France, Breitling and the Blades
Nice shot, I remember doing a touch and go in a Nimrod there many a year ago – seem to remember there was a silver Anson parked outside at the time
