As Cees said… why? The UK already has an airworthy Lancaster which can be seen at most large airshows and all manner of other places at the vast majority of weekends, Just Jane is perfect doing what she already does.
Of course, if the owners decide to fly it, then that’s up to them, but it’s hardly as if the UK has a massive gap in the Lancaster market already
Any in Europe, Western are the most useful
Looks like the Manchester museum of Science and Industry’s Avro triplane, don’t know if it’s flown before but it will do
edit – actually, to correct that, it looks like it’s a second replica built by Manchester Museum (which explains why it looks better than the photos of the other in the museum), and will fly

When reading about the Hamburg raids of July 1943 I was quite shocked to find that no attempt whatsoever was made to target ‘war production plants’ and that aiming-points were selected specifically so that bombing fell on civilian residential areas that would result in the highest possible civilian casualties.
The civilians would be working in ‘war production plants’, so by killing/injuring the work force you can still have a negative effect on production
She looks a lot better now she’s had a good polishing
Cheers, not sure if he’s tried him yet but have already suggested it. Anyone else out there in case? It’s going to be a very, very good restoration
At least one is in a museum
Beech Restorations has the coolest logo!
Seriously though, volunteering with Beech Restorations has to be the wisest choice i’ve made – i’ve been made very welcome, both when I started and when I returned after away for a year and a half of University, and learnt a heck of a lot
I’m presuming you mean WW2 bombs?
Thanks – if/when you expand your website to include Austers, i’d be happy to help with photographs etc
I dont think you need to go to those lengths to get another flight. It was my mode of transport down to Bolt Head and back and I must be getting old (or fatter!) as it was a bit of a squeeze getting in. I tried an Autocar for size two weeks ago and somehow didnt fit. I blame my diet of real ale. No mention of pies is required please!!!
Martin
Haha, still haven’t had a go in an Autocar…. yet!
I’ve just noticed that the date for Middle Wallop is two days from my 21st Birthday, so should be a good weekend
G-PFAF is a FRED Series 2.
Still plenty of decent Auster club fly-ins, there’s another at Leicester at the beginning of June which i’m looking forward to
Nice – I wonder if Richard will let me go in the Mk III again if I get some jungle greens and a beret with Royal Artillery cap badge!
As much as my allegiance is towards Austers, that’s a very pretty Piper Cub
Wow, looks extremely realistic, if I didn’t know i’d say it was the real thing
