Early in the morning can be a problem based upon my own and friends experience. I nearly missed an easyjet flight to Glasgow last year as it took me 2 hours 15 minutes to get the departure gate from joining the check in queue. There were mega queues for check in and security. I was really cheesed off 😡

What time was this? My flight isn’t till 11:25 but the check in desk opens at 9:40 so was going to get there as early as possible

Also, will it really take two hours to get off the plane? I thought it would just be getting off the plane, getting bag checked again maybe then just walk to the terminal

Can’t beat the gorgeous looks of the Beech 18 – the most attractive aircraft ever fitted with a radial engine

What’s wrong with the revolving turntable the Mustang is on? Personally I think it’s great! You can get a shot of the angle facing whichever way you want it to from plenty of angles

Good to hear, no doubt it’s a top class restoration and a great addition to the Eggesford Auster fleet, looking forward to seeing the photos

Morning all – would like to also like to say sorry to hear about what’s happened Martin.

No idea if it’s relevant to the discussion or not or if the roundel sizes are the same, but I did a bit of a walkaround of the Hendon Harvard back in December (I believe it’s painted as a Canadian based one though), uploaded the photos here

I’d say the airship has massive potential (just done an exam question on this topic actually) – the US ‘Walrus’ project for starters, which was cancelled

    and the HAA

There’s quite a few run down areas, as in any city, that could easily be brought up to standard again, without getting rid of our lovely airfield! Plus reduces emissions from construction vehicles bringing in raw materials etc etc

Cheers guys – now she’s at Waddington (Why the move, anyone know?), does this mean she’ll be viewable on airshow days?

How far away from Bruntingthorpe is not that far away? Apart from RAF bases and East Midlands airport, can’t think of anywhere suitable for a Vulcan relatively close to Brunty

That’d be good, ‘phantastic’ looking aircraft – oddly enough was just watching ‘Threads’ which has some great Phantom phootage

It’s all pointless banter anyway, we all know it’ll end up being some deformed piece of modern art; how about a burnt out car? Fantastic idea that

Or how about this fantastic idea, let’s just get people to volunteer to stand on it and look like prannocks!

According to the ‘artist’, it’s supposed to represent ‘the subjective living body becomes both representation and representative, encouraging consideration of diversity, vulnerability and the individual in contemporary society’ – so in other words he went down the pub, thought of a stupid idea, wrote it down on the back of a fag packet and made it sound like he’s a genius using key words, including the golden word ‘diversity’

Does the newspaper not have a date for when it was taken? I’d definitely say post war from the crews uniforms – thing is though, check out the kid closest to the Aeronca, wearing what looks like a polo shirt, it looks very out of place compared to the older looking clothes of the kids, and looks relatively modern, say 1970s/1980s. I’d say the photo is majorly staged, why would you let the kids that close to the aircraft anyway? I’m going to take a complete stab in the dark and say the Aeronca’s actually privately owned and the ground crewman/pilot are civilians dressed up for the occasion, as well as the fact the door seems to be a different colour/not completely painted in parts

edit – plus one of the kids has fairly long/scraggy hair, and I think it’s a boy – or an ugly girl! I’ll place my bets on it being some 1940s day out for kids at a local airfield

Looks like an Aeronca 7 series to me – check out this photo of Aeronca Champ at Eggesford owned by ‘ChampMagic’ on here

Door seems identical, plus it seems like a compact version of the Cub, which the Champ looks like!
