Hello Albert
It is quite a small pic:(

http://www.vickersviscount.net
This site has lots of pics of Cambrian Viscounts in BA livery including ‘YP but not ‘YS.
One thinmg I do remember is while the BEA Viscount that were repainted into BA Livery (G-AOHL,M,R,T,V,W,JE,F) were painted as overhauls came due, the Northeast and Cambrian were progressivly painted. No doubt this was to rid the two non BEA liveries as soon as possible.
One other oddity of BA Viscounts was the identity for the still seperate divisions was kept in as much as the BA liveried Viscounts wore small white Northeast, Cambrian, Channel or Scottish titles.
Cambrian Division Viscount 806 G-APIM wore Channel titles

All I can tell you is it was at the time and it was in the airport news roundup.

This aircraft continued in service with Intra when not being used for filming and I saw it several times in the RAF cammo. I did photgraph it but I have no idea where the pic is.
Aircraft Illustrated had a pic so if you know someone with a collection you’ll find it in there.
Althougth G-AKNB was to only DC3 to wear the final BUA livery, the other survivors wore the virtually identical BUIA livery with Freighter titles.

The only difference in the latter version was the addition of the ‘I’ deletion of the arrow and in the case of the Heralds which had wing bands, those were deleted…..I don’t know if ‘KNB had wing bands as I never saw it in that livery. G-AKNB did not wear BUIA as it went to become the intial aeroplane of the new Intra Airways (Jersey) Ltd as it was called at the time, formed by four ex BUA pilots.

Looks to me like a South Afican Airways DC 7B
This one doesn’t have a radar though

Garry
Yes
The DC3 on a stick trhat shouldn’t have those big spinners unless it was a totally different engine which it doesn’t look like
Garry

Valletta had a different c/n group and production fgures are always quoted seperately. The RAF had some Vikings and they were not grouped witrh the Vallettas.
Autair used them until 1968, I think it was that year Invicta finished with them too and Europe Aero Service into the 1970’s. As far as I know the last one was in France finally retiring in 1974.
I suppose it depended where you were as locally the last Viking was 1963.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say:confused:
Personally I don’t find the Spitfire or infact any single engined aeroplane beautiful although I would say better looking than most……..but that’s just my opinion.
Garry
A Valetta is a different type.
Cargo doors different interior different cockpit glazing miltary equipment and engines Always quoted as a seperate entity in production numbers etc.

Also one in France (damaged on landing in the early fifties and stored since), one in Germany, one in Austria and one in Argentina.
The Argentina one was saved ex airforce. G-AGRU was with G-AGRW and G-AHPB used in a resturant in Holland and as mentioned G-AGRU came back to the UK at Duxford, later Brooklands and the other two are the Austian and German examples. I’m not sure of the status of the Austrian, the German one was painted as D-BABY.
