G-EYES and G-BOLZ
With RR Merlins RCAF, BOAC and CPA used three bladed props on their Canadair Fours
TCA used four bladed on the trans Canada fleet and three blades on the trans ocean although sometime four bladers were used sometimes
I read that the three blades were faster…..so perhaps that means the fours were more economical and maybe without the same competition on the Candian routes were a better bet where a little longer time was not an issue.
Tudors and Lincolns always seem to have used the fourblade.
Very claustrophobic:eek:
I think the Science Museum one is a very early machine.
Just had one from avrovulcan reffering to illegal youtube
Thanks for the warning I would have clicked it otherwise

You could never directly compare them as one was a flying boat and the other a land plane
The only thing they really have in common is neither should have been built
Brooklands has the G-ASYD the prototype BAC One-Eleven 400/500/475/670.
Could you not have the original registration painted as normal with the real later issue small on the frame somewhere in the same way as war birds in military colours..
To be honest all I see is what I would expect of an aeroplane kept outdoors and not neglected, just needing a clean.
In addition there is some unfortunate accident damage…so what is the problem??
If looked at at normal distance…..ignoring the nose, it looks fine all things considered.

The colour pic on the Cambrian site could be misleading
It may not be a colour pic as a lot of monochrome were hand painted in those days
There were special paints made and my Mother had a set and used to paint folks wedding photos to make some cash
Also colour reproduction was not good then so postcards were not the right colours.
I wonder though if you wrote to that webmaster if he could actually give you the info you need…..one of the ex Cambrian guys may well specialise in their liveries.
To be honest it could be a situation like the Hendon Beverley
Quick get rid of it before someone makes a fuss to save all the hassle.
Shame…………but if that was the case I can see their point…….want space clear area of what to them was probably a piece of junk.
I am saddened by this and have fond memories watching for those last few weeks when it was the only one of it’s type still flying.
If you mean the one at Gatwick……..last reports was it was still with the Fire Service there for possible none destructive training.
No reports are recent though
You may already know about this
But in case you don’t
