Thanks DCW, and all the other contributors of pictures and news from DUX that invariably makes this the “first to go to” thread. Good luck to all at Duxford. I’m looking forward to “Duxford Diary 2013”
Best wishes

“Yale Harvard and SNJ”
What’s the difference? And what is a Texan then? Aren’t they different names for the same aircraft?
A Yale also has a completely different wing from the Harvard/T-6 variants making it somewhat prone to tip stalling. It also has a lower powered engine.

Happy Birthday RAFM. Like you David, I visited Hendon just a few days after the museum opened and I too was absolutely knocked out. Been back a few times since, but not for 20 years, and always really impressed. Long may the museum survive, and preferably at Hendon!

I’ve got still the first one I ever bought. 1957, green with a Twin Pin on the cover. Cost 2/6d. Not much use to me here in Canada though!
My oldest Observers book of Aircraft is 1954.
I’ve recently managed to get rid of half my magazine collection of close to 1000, going back to the mid sixties. Anybody want the rest?

Great pictures. Looks as though it was a great day of flying. Cool & wet here in Ottawa. We might get a flypast by the Sabre in a couple of hours.
Thanks for posting the pics

My first flight, military or otherwise, was on a Southern comms Anson from, guess where, Roborough, 1956, when with 335 ATC squadron, Plymouth (the one with the Seafire!)
But the military flight that sticks in my mind was a few months later. Night flying from Lindholme in a Lincoln. Glowing exhausts from the Merlins and a fantastic view of the Humber estuary at night.
Happy days!

Great tribute and pics jbs. Sorry for your loss.
All fine ships your Dad served on. In the thick of it during WW2, Korea and Suez. I had an Uncle on Illustrious at about that time. Alas, he’s long gone too.
Very best wishes

Wonderful video! What a thrill. Many congratulations. Long may the RNHF keep flying.

Charlie:
To answer your original questions (I think!) There are 8 complete Lancasters in Canada:
FM 213 Canadian Warplane Heritage, Hamilton ON
KB 944 Ottawa ON
FM 212 Windsor ON
FM 104 Toronto area
FM 159 Nanton, Alberta
FM 136 Calgary, Alberta
KB 882 Nr Edmunston NB
KB 839 RCAF base Greenwood NS
Of these only FM 213 is currently airworthy. It flies most weekends during the summer, generally in the Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa areas, but it often takes a long trip during the year, typically, to Western Canada.
If you are wealthy enough and can buy the necessary type of memberdhip with CWH you get to fly in her.

Wonderful pics, particularly of the P-40’s flying together.
Thanks for posting (got anymore?)

Great Pics. I drove past Trenton on the 401 about 3 hours ago. I guess I should have stopped by for a looksee.

Great pics from the RAFM, but the pictures of the Bomber Command memorial was really stunning and very moving. The bus in the backround seemed to add poignancy to the shots.
Thanks for sharing

I’ll second Keith Park, hero of the B of B and the air battle over Malta.
