I’m glas to see such a good progress on this project. I realy hope to see it once at FL. But a first flight in NZ of this plane in 2011 would already be amazing!:)

Not that I’m doubting it (well perhaps;)) but has anyone ever seen an image of this aircraft in flight? I recall some taxiing pictures in FP about 10 years ago and a couple of cockpit shots, but actually in the air…
Yes I have. I have seen a video where Eric Vormezeele doing some testflights in the Buchon at Brasschaat in the late eighties or early nineties with several landings and take offs. So I have seen a video of it in the air.

No, she has not flown with the new tail.
There where plans to let the Buchon preform some engine runs during the open door, but this did not happen. The mechanics of Vormezeele had much work during the last few weeks. They have put the T28 Trojan N377WW in the air for the first time last week since it was imported from the US. After a testflight, it flew in at Braschaat on saturday and so made it’s first flying appearance for the general public. Also The Vormezeele team worked hard on the P51D Mustang PH-VDF which got airborne again for the first time after some major repairs on friday the 18th. The Mustang made a flyby at braschaat during this first flight on friday to mark the start of the the fly-inn.
So they are very busy.

The Buchon has not flown for almost 20 years. There are no plans to fly it in 2010. But it is maintained in airworthy condition to keep all options open for the future.

Nice shots. It’s good to see the spitfire getting active again. Nice to see the ryan too! Nice catch!

Yes, the wheels up site has some great video footage. The webmaster is a very nice (but also a little bit strange 😉 ) person. I’m shure chrisse will post a lot more nice videos at wheels up in the future.

Anyone know which P-51’s are used in this movie? From UK or Europe I presume?
N167F ‘Old Crow’ from the Scandinavian Historic Flight was also used painted as a red tail for this movie. It has already returned to it’s Old crow markings. I saw Old Crow at the airshow of Albert (france) which took place on the 23rd may.

Dear aviation fanatics,
It is with deep regret that we have to announce the postponement of the 2009 Ursel Avia Show.
This week, the team of Ursel Avia Show received a massive blow. The rug was pulled out from under our setup and our initiative just two months before the event. Despite frustration, disbelief and outrage, we have to present this announcement calmly and with huge respect for you, aviation fanatic.
Ursel Avia Show is cancelled due to the fact that we’ll miss an environmental license…
In spite of a year long professional preparation, a nice flying program (see http://www.urselavia.be) and a lot of public interest we, as result of a complaint of ecologists and Flemish Environment, Nature & Energy department, do not receive a positive written advice from the Flanders Governor. This long awaited advice was needed by Belgian National Civil Aviation Authority to grant permission for our 2009 Show as we are only eight weeks away now from this event.
Rest assured we have saved no expense or effort to create this wonderful event. A year’s work, hundreds of hours of meetings and the work of terrific volunteers all seem to be in vain now. However, this concept will not be trashed, but it will rather be placed in the “TO DO” tray, we will continue to fight for this concept and hope to present you with an Avia Show in the near future, probably August 2010.
So, in order to have more time to overcome the actual ecological and political burdens related with the show and airfield we have decided but also are committed to organize our Ursel Avia Show in 2010 and hopefully with your support.
We knew right from the start that this first edition would not be easy and we knew we would encounter a lot of opposition. We know that it is not easy at all to organize anything aviation-related in Belgium, in stark contrast to our neighboring countries. An ending like this was, however, not something we had anticipated in our worst-case scenario.
We would like to conclude this announcement with our apologies to you, the avid aviation fanatic, who suffers most from this failure.
But we also would like to thank you for the confidence; please join and support us for the UAS 2010 edition.
