Flicking through a Signal ‘P61 Black Widow in action’ book in Ian Allan today there was a brief account of a P61 being so badly shot up by a Stuka that it was subsequently written off. Would be interested to know more about the action. It’s not where my bet would have been placed.
There is almost nothing more pleasing than finding a badly described item in an obscure category. Watching it with few views and no bids before, at the last moment, it is highlighted here and shoots up in value. How one claps ones hands with joy…
It was K6485, Andy. According to ‘Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm’, Shot down in flames by Bf110 at 10.05 over Old Sarum airfield. Pilot jumped but killed by gunshot wounds and multiple injuries. One of the more unusual BoB casualties.
The white and blue looks Naval to me.
Nice link! I wonder how much that will make? At the other end of the price scale: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290842904055?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Lovely photos, you get a real sense of scale. Looks like the outdoor shots were taken on a beautiful summer’s day.
The thread which everyone posts in, but nobody reads! There is a ground hog day quality.
Yes, there was a big display of axis equipment there after the war and a lot of it looks to have been bulldozed. They’ve found some impressive stuff. Will have to practice my high fives, Elliott. I’m normally a demon for them.
That’s a good looking selection! There’s nothing like filling empty holes. As Finbarr Saunders used to say.
Yes, he does do off ebay sales! Looking forward to some pics of the project.
Is this any use Mike? Sea King collective?

In the first pic the trailing edge of the wing looks to have the guide rail for a flap so Hudson sounds promising. Does look like a civilian recovery for scrap.
That’s a very valuable iceberg! A very impressive collection and not too cramped.
Thanks Elliott, that is unusual. Having not dug it up myself it could easily find a new home! Cheers for looking.
The Mustang was allegedly AG634, 414 Sqn RCAF, so unfortunately no Bottisham connection. Here are a couple of photos lifted from the Osprey ‘Production line to frontline’ P51 book. The end of the pump is poking out next to the seat, as Tony said.
