Thanks Andy, that narrows it down a bit. At least it’s a distinctive shape.
Yes Tony, an interesting aircraft. Curtiss went to great lengths to make it French, even down to the undercarriage and fire extinguisher labels. Always quite exciting to find bits in a different langauge.
Are there any Whitleys lost at glacier height? I wonder what the rations tasted like? Didn’t look promising!
Hello Andy, a long shot but do you recognise this 109/110 stub? Also ex Bill’s but not mine. You could save a long trawl through the Foote files!
I’m with Bunsen.
Thanks for the confirmation Andy, that’s excellent. Glad to have got some of the bits back together. There is a cylinder head from the Mohawk at Hawkinge, wrongly labelled.
Looking through the dig photos Tony,I wish I’d got more than one Browning. You live and learn!
Thanks both, thought the same thing. It’s a strange coincidence having re dug the Hawk a few years ago. The original digger driver’s son drove the JCB for us. He remembered the Londoners only being interested in the engine and throwing most of what they found back. He wondered when someone would return to recover the rest. Andy, I don’t suppose you’ve got any photos of the Mohawk display at Tangmere? I remember seeing it but Philippa was only photographing Luftwaffe bits.
A grip display indoors at the ‘fest sounds an excellent plan. Much impressed with your moistened selection last year Martyn. Would be keen to join in. It might also get me moving on a frame for my Vulcan panel and grips. Cricket sounds entertaining. I disgrace myself every year at a different fest with a cricket match attached. Always the last to get picked for teams at school and not improved with age.
Went for a fraction more than my budget! I saw a better one come out of a bog in Blaenavon. Must chase it up! That really is a lot of money, and a bit less decorative than the Luftwaffe equivalent:
If you try your local county records office they may have reports and notebooks. It is a matter of luck as to what was preserved.
Another Happy New Year. lets hope it’s a good one!
That was a nice gift! Jet Art have a button: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAF-Aircraft-Stick-Grip-Switch-NEW-Sea-Harrier-Hawk-ETC-/140938560787?pt=UK_CPV_Aviation_SM&hash=item20d097c513
You’ll need four. They also have a trim switch mount which looks right for a Sea Harrier but might be too early: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAF-RN-Aircraft-Control-Column-Switch-AC62508-8-5CW-11647-Lightning-Javelin-/141122756832?pt=UK_CPV_Aviation_SM&hash=item20db9260e0
There were some cheap Dowty made vehicle grips on ebay a year or so ago which had the flip cover and button for the back. Worth looking out for. If you find a trim switch supply I’m very keen for one! Photo is vehicle left, (similar) Hawk right.
And a good shade of desert pink, Fly.buy and puukka. There are some nice things on eBay at the moment.
This is nice too, but the postage wouldn’t be..

Early F16. At least I’ll get an early night now!
Not quite aircraft parts but regularly seen hanging out the back of a ‘Neinkel etc, here’s a stormtrooper’s pimped MG15:
