Hello Rob, should be doing something else so googled B24 engines. http://www.flickr.com/photos/87791108@N00/3383704402/lightbox/
Looks like the hinges bolted onto the backs of the rear cylinder heads, or they’re cowling mounts for the front. I’m not sure which way the engine is facing! As a rule, if you find a couple of identical items at a crash site there will have been a lot more on the aircraft. You’ll probably find some bomb door roller mounts as well.
Only a guess but they look like cowling gill hinges. Worth a google.
Amazing Cad work! What are you using?
That would spoil your afternoon.
I believe the RAF version was chrome plated. We’re not peasants, after all. Corsairs had the ‘relief’ tube clipped to the control column.
Looks an interesting dig. A pity the chalk is so damned hard!
An excellent day out in good company. The Spitfire display was a real treat, as was watching the Harvard and Bulldogs taxy past the hanger entrance. Even cleared a bit of space in the loft.
I think I misread your post 345 Tony, was thinking of a chat at the aeroboot re planning for Cockpitfest. I would have thought a table or two there would be sufficient. There is an interested audience and they all already turn up! That said Old Sarum is a lot closer to home and there wouldn’t be a profusion of stick fingered children breaking bits off cherished items. If you were airing some of your collection I’d be there!
Looking forward to tomorrow, stuff piled in the front room ready to load. Won’t be there spot on 7 AM though, it would involve a shameful start time.
Your Harrier stick display, GOKONE. A tactile treat.
Is it on the same shelf as the tartan paint?:-)
Good plan Tony, I’d certainly be interested. Was great to see and fondle Martyn’s and GOKONE’s displays at the Fest.
Here are two new ones. The F1 grip is in need of a brake lever if there is a spare about. The F15A grip and throttle came from the states. It would be nice to have the matching port engine lever but that will be a challenge. Gruel for the rest of the month.
Nice grip Steve, Alan had some at Cockpitfest but the vultures (myself included) descended so quickly his cardboard box of grip spares emptied instantly. I think they had different flip covers though. I’m also after a brake lever for a new acquisition.
Very nice items, McLittle. The Beaufort yoke is particularly impressive. The base looks more Beaufighter than Blenheim so presumably the Bristol lineage went off in odd directions!
