Always had a soft spot for Lysanders. Could be tempted Elliott!
You have it Ian! The rad temp is a replacement for a boost gauge. Very nice Elliott!
Well done Elliott, I bid lightly but then decided I’d got enough radiation in my life! The nearest I found was Gladiator although it isn’t. Definitely a purpose built aircraft part on account of the impressed lettering. Lower RPM than a Merlin, rad temp so in line engine. Not Spitfire!
What he said!
A meteor panel sold on ebay a couple of days ago. Always a good place to look!
I mainly took pics of the cockpits, the Harrier looking particularly nice. Only recorded one stall, others were available. Similar items may be available at Shoreham:rolleyes:
If you look on the Deox c ‘how to’ page they use a Ju88 cam shaft as their example before and after project.
I didn’t have a big enough bucket so the top end went in for about five hours and the rusty end overnight. It was about a five to one solution and it did a pretty reasonable job. I’ve got a better one on the way and there are more! Will enquire about extras. Do take some before pics before soaking.
Lovely Beech yoke, Dominic. A very attractive shape.
A bit of googling has pinned down the luftwaffe grip. It’s from the tall HDL 151 turret fitted to Fw200s, Bv138s and Gigants. Turrets that made the BP protuberance on the back of a Hudson look like an Olympic cyclist’s helmet.
Thanks for the comments. Plumbing sounds believable, I will report back to the owner.
Yes, a great day out. Made to feel very welcome by the staff and met lots of good people, familiar and new. Made a bit of money, bought a few things (red Wessex stick!) and learned stuff. All in all a result. Still have stuff left for Shoreham. Thanks to the organisers!
That is an unusual pair, coldkiwi. Is there a button at the business end of the Tony one?
Martyn, Deox C is a very good rust remover, as recommended on this very forum. It also has a go at aluminium corrosion. I was very pleased with the results, the trigger was rusted solid to the top.
In praise of Deox C
This has been my in between rugby weekend game. A turret stick out of something Luftwaffe, still not sure what. Recovered from a base in Poland in ‘used’ condition. A bit of scraping and particularly Deox C have brought it up much better. The plastic coating could be formed back into shape with some gentle heat. It’s an SG7A grip but I can’t find much info on it, other than it isn’t from a Ju188 or Do217.
Cheers Peter, I’m hoping to fill in a few gaps over the coming jumbles. next stage is turning some mounts for the stick grips. I’m hoping to link them together.
