One interesting (to my mind that is) thing coming from all of this is that in recent years i have felt that more and more people are sitting on the fence on most matters not choosing to have an opinion or saying it doesn’t effect them so they don’t care.

With the war going on we are seeing a big divide, perhaps ill informed on both sides as I see little evidence (except on this forum) of people providing good arguements as to why they are for or against the war.

People are starting to take interest in the world around them again which has to be a good thing.

The basic gist is get something like a TI4200 and avoid the MX as its cheap and nasty. I bought the retail version of Gainwards Geforce 4 TI4200 and got DVD player software, video editing software and game. If you don’t fancy the software you can prob pick up the OEM version for less but you don’t get those extras. The beauty of the gainward is the ease of overclocking which means I should be able to tweak the card to perform as a TI4400 which when i bought mine was about £200 more expensive.

As for mice (mouses) i have a microsoft intellipoint USB optical jobby, it was pricey but its a great mouse.

I also bought Win XP pro for £103 quid OEM (means you have to buy it with hardware but if you get the mouse or the graphics card from them too you’ll have no trouble) from http://www.scan.co.uk. click on today only and the microsoft mouse is on special at £15 but i think the deal changes today at 10am so be quick. Looking under software XP Pro OEM is currently £106 so add the mouse to that a postage and it’ll cost you £130.

My Mouse started acting on its own… jumping around the screen… mostly near the top corners and the pointer menus kept popping up like someone was clicking the right mouse button. So I turned off the machine and used the adapter that came with my mouse and installed it as a serial mouse… that is when the problems started.

Regarding backups I have two harddrive, my original is an 8GB drive and my new one is an 80GB drive. My 8GB drive is backed up on both of my two 40GB patritions of my new drive. If I have to do a complete reinstall I might change my boot drive to my new drive, but that would be quite time consuming as I would have to backup about 40GB of data and reformat and repartition the drive… 40GB would be a bit too big for system files.

The mode it boots into is some sort of diagnostic mode (not safe mode) that does not allow the screen settings to be displayed (either by right clicking on the desktop and clicking on the settings tab or through control panel and clicking on the display icon). Programs like quickres don’t run either.

I think it might be a conflict with my graphics cards and am going to remove and reinstall them. (I am going to buy a new graphics card anyway so it is not that much of a deal…though it would have been better if it hadn’t happened… it is better to happen now than later with the new card… )
