Nice Photo’s
(Busy day down here today lots of comings and goings)
Hot of the press Frist Test Flight Photo
I don’t know for sure, but Keith may have ferried her to Exeter from Warton during December 1992. If he did do so, then the log-book would read nicely…
December 23rd 1992 – pilot Keith Hartley.
August 9th 2006 – pilot Keith Hartley😀
Keith did bring her down to Exeter in 92 I know I was there lol
No, the MiG-35 is just painted in the same scheme as the Swift’s FULCRUMs. It was a Swifts MiG-29UB that crashed.
Thanks for putting me right lol modern jets not my stuff got to be 30 year + to interest me lol
Changing the subject a little ,, the MIG 29 that was at RIAT is that the same one that crashed yeterday ????

????
Thanks Manstoninsider. I stand corrected on the Canberra – I assumed it was there.
The airshow was good. The commentary made reference to a ‘growing’ show. It was £10 per person to get in and £3.00 parking with a four hour display. Well worth it. I would like to see more of Miss Demeanour myself. Have not seen much of it in the last couple of years.
I believe the pilot borrowed Mustang Janie for the day as his plane is still awaiting a new canopy to be fitted.
I will be going to show next year.
Thanks for the nice comments
try http://www.heritageaviation.com/ for Miss Demeanour and I think she’s going to Yeovilton as part of a pair of Hunters
Miss Demeanour today 16.30 Practice displays at Exeter

“Ive always had the dubious honour of being the smallest across the chest to get by the radar bullet for FOD checks, starter leak checks etc as well “

markp451a were you one of the chaps that came over to Brunt in 1991 with Barry when we had 728’s no.2 out for the first time ?
I did the starter, as i was the only one that could fit past the bullet.. one thing i would say it was no fun fail safe/leak check on both starters… lol

That about sums it up, the cost in maintance alone was 100 hrs servicing to 1 hrs flight back in 1988.
Seens a bit high we were looking at about £3000 per hour for 451 but was back in the 90’s at todays cost it would be £10,000+
Wessex Boy “Back when I was Cadet camp at Binbrook in Aug ’87” I was there in 86 spent all week on 5sqd ground crew, turn arounds great fun hence I move to Plymouth and had 3 years on 451 and 3 years on 693/773 at Exeter and i’ve now lost count of the number of years spent on Hunter’s !!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙂 🙂 🙂
With the ref to DGH “When I was at Thunder City the engineers working on 693 told me they didn’t have enough parts to get all 4 up at the same time and so 773 would be robbed when needed” the plan was to fly 773 until life exed ( which ist long) and then remove the fin mod and fit it to 693….. so at the mo 693 is flying without the fin mod and has to be NDT a lot at the mo…..
As for ships in the UK 903 is all most life exed
JS has some life ( how much i do not know)
724 has 1 or 2 FI left
458 would be poss the best
the 2 big problems would be spares as most are in SA and the CAA
Hi all
The Tornado is under powered, turns like a pig,,,, A Hunter 50years old can out turn and out accelerate one at low speed…at high speed a Lightning goes faster and with more range…. the only thing a Tornado has going for it is it weapon load. Its a standoff weapon platform not a fighter..
If my memory serve me right the RAF lost 49% of the there Gnat fleet in the 16years they flew them… A very very high loss rate….
And its a higher rate then the Starfighter…!!!!!
I love that red, white & blue Hunter
Neal
What like these…..
note 601’s nose leg difference between idle and max power
