Re Fault

Hi Paul
The problem, put simply is that when I press the start button, nothing happens. In the begining, the start engaged light would illuminate for a split second, but we don’t even get that now. Once pressed a timer should engage the relay to hold in the start button, but it isnt doing so. Holding the start button in by hand has no effect at all. I understand that a mechanical timer is part of the circuit, and it could be this is seized up, but I cant be sure.
Any ideas you may have will be greatfully received!
Best wishes,

Re Crest.

Hi All
Thanks for the replys, I have an inflight photo of our Jet Provost when she was a Mk-3 (Now a Mk-3A), taken during a practice formation flight for a passing out parade (97 course I believe), it shows several JP’s most in the old silver and dayglow scheme, but they all have the crest on the blue band, it may have been put there aspecialy for the occasion.
Thanks again,

Aerojumble & Cockpits etc, Bruntingthorpe 27th May.

Hi All
Thought I had better ask one last time!
Would anyone like to bring along a Cockpit or Instrument panels, seats etc the the Bruntingthorpe “Big Thunder” open day on Sunday 27th of May 2007?
If so, please contact me for arangements. I have been told we can use the concrete pan area adjacent to the Super Guppy, and anyone wishing to attend can do so free of charge.
Also, anyone who would like to have an Aerojumble stall would be welcome for a small fee, I can put you in touch with the organiser.
We already have Victor B.1 and Lightning T.5 and Canberra PR.9 cockpits on site, and I belive we may have a Jet Provost Mk.5 cockpit coming also. Simulated takeoff runs will be made by a Victor, Comet, Lightning’s, Iskra, Canberra, Buccaneer and of course our little Jet Provost Mk.3A.
Other aircraft including a Sea Vixen are available for viewing, so ,if you want to get up close and personal to some classic jet’s, this is the day to do it.

Panel mounting structure.

Hi Guys
Can anyone provide either a photograph or a copy of the Parts / maintenance manual, showing the panel mounting frame / structure for the AOP.6 panel. It’s always nice to try and mount the panel for display on a representative structure.
Many thanks.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the response to our question. Rob, we will be at Bruntingthorpe on Saturday, working on our Jet Provost (XN584), so if you do come accross any photos we could borrow, maybe you could drop them off with us.
T6Flyer, any photo’s of your AOP-6 would be a major help, as Max has just discovered that the panel is from G-ARGB (VF635).
Martin, we hope to see you soon, will you be coming to the open day on May 27th?
Best wishes

Hi Ross, thanks for considering it anyway, I know how much hard work it is attending any event. Be sure to say hello at Cockpitfest, we will be there with Max’s new Beagle Pup cockpit project and his Instrument panels, or drop in and say hello at Bruntingthorpe if you are out that way on a Saturday.

Thanks guys
To be honest, I had measured off the rivet pitch from the photo, and come up with exactly the same dimensions, I was just seeking reasurance that we had it right before I apply paint to the aircraft. So thanks again for all of the help, now I had better get painting!

Width?

Hi Guys
What we now need to know is,
1) What are the widths of the bands both dark and light blue, on the RAF Cranwell tail band.
Once again, any help is appriciated.

Jet Provost colour scheme.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the help, we now know exactly what colour scheme XN584 should be wearing, and have photos to prove it! thanks again Graham.
What we now need to know is,
1) What are the widths of the bands both dark and light blue, on the RAF Cranwell tail band.
2) Does anyone know where we might be able to obtain 2 of the RAF Cranwell station badges shown in the center of the light blue band?
Once again, any help is appriciated.

Re aircraft / helicopter for paint balling.

Hi
If you only after a light aircraft or small civil helicopter, try Dave Almey at Sky-Craft near Spalding. He had R-22 helicopters and light single fuselages for around £150, his e-mail address is dave@sky-craft.co.uk

Where do the next genoration start?

I have a son, just turned 16, who is aviation crazy, he started about 3 years ago, working with a group of enthusiasts at Bruntingthorpe, we then purchased an old T-31B glider (which by a strange coincidence, was stored in a shed at Peter Holloway’s home), which we started to restor, and is now flying with a gliding club field in north Wales. Yes Peter, that trailer load of bits actualy made it back into the air! We now own a Jet Provost, which we maintain in taxiable condition.
This winter he has started the National Aviation Heritage Skills Initiative, and is proud to now have his first City & Guilds accreditation, which was a great help in getting a good place at a sith form college, so thanks to the BAPC for that initiative, it realy does help the yopung in particular.
He desperatly wants to work in the vintage aircraft restoration / preservation or maintenance field’s, but were does he go from here? we live in Leicestershire, and the opertunities for training and employment are just not there, and not everyone wants to work on Airbus’s or Boeing’s.
He would jump at the opertunity to learn the skills already mentioned in this thread, he knows it wont make him rich, but he does no that it would be rewarding, if only the opertunities were there.
He is efectivly learning his trade for free at the moment, working with a very good group of guys at Bruntingthorpe, but he is limited in what he can learn at an outdoor colection, one day a week.
I am sure there are many more like him, who just want a chance to get a foot in the door, but where are the doors for them?
Any ideas?

Bruntingthorpe 27th of May.

Hi Roy
It would be great to meet up with you at last, will you be at Cockpitfest this year? Max has his first cockpit project to show, a Beagle Pup-100 that he picked up, badly crushed from nosing over in a forced landing. We must get up to Liverpool one of these days also.
All the best.
