This may be of help.
Hi Matt
I have a copy of an A.P.101B-2304-1, Jet Provost Mk.4 General and Technical Information Manual, on CD-Rom.
Section 2, Ground Handling and Preparation for Flight, section 2, preparation for flight may be of some help to you.
I would be happy to post a copy off to you if you PM me an address, if it helps. I also have Pilot’s notes and the electrical manual on CD-Rom as well if you want copies.
The most important item on any JP pre flight is the pre oiling of the engine main bearings, it must be done every time the engine has not been run for 21 days, as the oil drains away into the tramp oil tank. Every single ex RAF, JP fitter we ever met drilled this into us, without it, the engine will be trashed in no time at all.
As you know, Max and I have quite a bit of JP expirience, so if we can be of help, please ask. And send that address if you want the disc’s.
Best wishes,
Ritch Blood.
Great to see your progress.
Hi Mike
Great to see some pics of your progress, keep us all updated, and let us know when you hope to collect the rest of her from Brunty, and we will try to be there.
Best wishes to all,
Ritch and Max.
Why not?
Hi Mike
Re “Now there’s a job for your new restoration facility Ritch – go to Newark and measure up the camera door and then make one for us”.
Can anyone at NAM get me a couple of photo’s of the door? one external and one internal, and I will give it “a good coat of looking at!” as they used to sat when I was just a lad!!
No promisses, but the least I can do is look into it for you.
Best wishes,
Ritch.
JP.
JP, Nose = 70 psi, Mains = 65 psi.
We would certainly be there if at all possible.
No, it’s not for an airworthy aircraft, just a forward fuselage project.
Thanks for the help so far.

PM sent.
Still looking for Cockpit’s to join us on the 11th of September at Leicester Airport.
Ritch.
We went along to this event last weekend. We love Old Warden at the best of times, but this was something very special indeed. Very well organised, excelent weather and just so friendly and laid back. The one hour open padock was very special, walking around on that Old Warden grass literaly surounded by Chipmunks was heaven. The aircraft owners / pilots where all so enthusiastic and ready to talk to all young or old. The flypast of 19 Chipmunks in formation was brilliant and looked and sounded perfect, the comentator in the tower said it brought tears to his eyes, well he wasn’t the only one.
I have been around aircraft for 40 years now and this was one of the very best days I can remember. I don’t know who the organisers are, but if any of you read this all I can say is thank you all for a special day and wonderfull event.
Ritch.
Thank’s for trying Dave.
Weather permiting it should be a great weekend all round, sorry we wont get the chance to go over to Metheringham though.
