Does anyone have pics?!
Bare panels, a few switches and the rudder pedals but I’ve already started to pick up bits and pieces. If anyone has a lead on any parts please get in contact! I’m planning to start cleaning the cockpit tomorrow, I’ll get some pics. I picked up some hot nozzles yesterday with a pair of cold nozzles coming next week too.
Don’t worry Dave the wing will be returning on the same truck that takes the stand back up soon!
As for today’s activity, a little spring clean! I tackled the worst green areas with a ladder, bucket and non scratch scouring pad. That was fun for half and hour then tiring for the next 2 but rewarding. I then took delivery of a giant diesel powered hot water pressure washer and things happened a lot quicker, nowhere near perfect but round 2 tomorrow. I have posted a couple of vids, the links are below.
Having never owned an aircraft this new I am still amazed how good the internal corrosion protection is. Every part of the internal structure that can be accessed looks as good as the close up picture below! Also note the dark grey FRS.1 paint on the top of the rear fuselage, I guess the fin stayed on in the paint shop.
Mikulin?
Sea Harrier
Sea Harrier ZD614 counterclockwise on the M25 right now headed south with a very happy new owner in tow! Pics to follow……
If I were in her shoes I’m not sure I’d like to sit in the cockpit where my father died though………..
HMS Compromise, HMS Deficit? But in all seriousness I’d love to see Hermes. Still think its a shame we didn’t go cap and trap.
*Yawn*….. No they won’t…….*yawn again*…….go find a girlfriend……..preferably not related, that already seems to be a problem in your family.
IL-2’s are built like a proverbial BSH that thing will still be there in fossil form long after we’re all gone.
Nozzle
Another view, the ungainly appearance is obviously due to the fact that its fitted over the existing circular afterburner but I guess is shows the Sukhoi have done some research in this area.
Flat nozzles
Not sure if this has been posted?
Sea Harrier
The Sea Harrier has a pretty impressive dogfighting success record against many US types. I don’t think it would be the case if we had a GR.5 derivative FA2.
Nice to see a Sea Harrier and GR.3 displayed together.
BD-5
Any interest? I have the missing fuselage panel and cockpit parts too.
Show off 🙂
