A much shorter drive in the other direction will see you at Solent Sky in Southampton where you will find a spitfire and many other rare aircraft!
Guessing Everetts?
Thanks for the pics, I hadn’t even thought that an owner from the time may be another forum member!
I don’t suppose anyone has a pic of the L-Spatz in Germany?
For some reason the forum won’t allow me to upload pictures directly so I have put some pics of the gliders RAF logbook etc in the album below.

Note to mods, I didn’t want to step over the line and I’m not trying to promote the sale just trying to fill in the gaps to answer the questions about the gliders history. I hope this is ok?
WB556 has its original 1949 factory paint. Unfortunately most of the fuselage is being reskinned as part of the airworthy rebuild but I am flattening out the original skins and several are making very striking wall hangings. Every marking on the whole aircraft is hand painted, to a good standard but the brush marks are still visible in the registration, yellow stripe and roundels. I love the personal connection these bits give me to the workers in the De Havilland factory all those years ago. Sort of like the tool marks in an old mine.
Once the restoration is complete the silver will be spayed but all other markings will be applied as per the originals by a coach-painter.
Where do I put my name down on the waiting list!
Not going to happen in the near future, they are a useful business tool for the UK and are a good (and relatively cheap) flag waving exercise.
If possible please, I was just trying to make contact with a few like minded locals!

Nice colour picture
The museum of army flying at Middle Wallop used to have the ex-Argentine UH-1 outside for kids of all sizes to play in. It’s now a restored exhibit inside.
More like a nice big target.
RIP Mr Vallance.
I hope a plan is in place to secure his collection which will let the Gatwick aviation museum continue in his memory.
If the Falklands start producing good amounts of oil and/or gas you’ll be amazed what could happen. Not impossible that the islanders could end up funding a full squadron or two of Typhoons plus a small but potent naval detachment including a sub. Lets face it the MoD, RAF and RN are not going to say no if its paid for. Another option would be to permanently base one of the new carriers there with its F-35 air-wing, again paid for by the islanders. Also a decent ground based air defence system and a few ground launched cruise missiles might offer a significant deterrent.
