Does it matter!!!!!!!
I don’t care what it looks like, that is one hell of a nice photograph.
This really is a “Historic Flight”. Congrats to all involved.
If you ignore the BAe, and just follow the link back through history, you could call it – “Hawkers Royal Navy Historic Flight”
It reminds me of a similar photograph, Spitfire, Javalin, etc, etc.
Very nice photo’s! I’m not from England….Were these taken at Abingdon?
Todd
These where taken not far from Coningsby in Lincolnshire. In 1988.
I forgot to say, If you want to copy any, I know they aren’t top quality,
Help your self.
I found a few more.
Heads up for half a dozen more. This time, PM631 over the Spalding area in 1988.
Are there any more.
Somewhere, But it may take some time to dig them out. When I find them I will post them.
AB ?
How’s “AB” doing?
Last of the Many.
Put it back as “Last of the many”
Keep a prop on it…….
I’ve changed my mind a bit. I’m not going to use a Centaurus, I’m going to use a PT-6 instead. The weight difference wont to radical with this power plant. And the purists can still see the PROP. I can also use the Rad boats as exhausts for the engine, we can still use the L/H one as an oil cooler as well. I think I will make them a bit smaller though, try to reduce the drag a bit. I can use the original air intake as, Wait for it, an air intake for the engine.
This is going to be the B—–ks. It should have a good fuel consumtion as well.
Ta Ta.
Radial Spitfire !!!!!
B—-y great.
I think I’ll have one built. A reliable Spitfire. All I need now, is a 54 litre, Bristol built engine. If only…………
I’d have to sort out the C of G though, may have to tweek the gear as well, make it stronger, you know all those things you think about after its been built normaly.
First kit?
The first kit I made was of a Vickers Varsity, as far as I can remember it was a vac form kit. I made this because my dad was on them just as he left the RAF. He painted it for me in Navigation training school colours, it was great.
I have been trying to find another one of these kits, but unfortunatly I cant find one. Do any of you know where I can get one? I have tried all the usual places.
Cheers……….
Jet fighter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the f*~# is a jet?
What a year!!
Up until 5th June it was a good year. At 16:30hrs that very day I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on my way home from the Grace Spitfire Supporters display at Duxford. I spent 17 days all told in good old Addenbrookes. I’m mending now, still got lots of metal in my wrists, but I hope to get back on the aeroplane after the new year all being well.
But I’m still here to partake in this ere forum.
Hope next years better………….
Good afternoon my ar$e
DON’T YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT MISTER WARWICK!!!
“Don’t you yell at me Mr Warwick”
I just love that line……
They couldn’t make this film now days. A classic.
How did I get interested?
My Dad.
Its as simple as that. He was in the RAF before I was born, but kept his interest in aeroplanes and it just rubbed off on me. We lived in North Nottinghamshire and we used to get all sorts of aeroplanes flying over very low, well to a young boy they seemed low. Vulcans would fly over and I would run out followed by dad and he would tell me all about them. We also used to get Varsities and verious transport and training aeroplanes flying over at all times of the day and night, Dad was in his element then, he finnished his time in the air force on Vasities, it was great. Mind you, we had an Air Force then.
My first air show was at Rolls Royce Hucknall in 196? I cant remember the exact date but I thought it was wonderful. I was totaly taken aback when a Spitfire and Huricaine started there display by arrieving from crowd rear, bloody brilliant. From then on I was hooked. And who would have thought, years later I would end my RAF carreer on BBMF.
Since leaving the RAF in 1990, I have continued to work on many historic aeroplanes to this day.
And as they say, what comes around goes around, my son and daughter have fallen into the same line as me, they love old aeroplanes and my other interest, steam traction engines and shire horses.
So there you go, thats how I got started, good old dad.
