the MOD pay for a large part of BBMF’s operating costs but they had to sell one of the Spits to rebuild LF363. . . .
What did that Spitfire look like It was not the one they were using for spares was it? but am I right that they have a Spitfire under Restoration to flying?
Im just sat here with a big grin on my face thinking what two lancs flying would look and sound like.
My imagination tells me it would be lovely. 😀
That sure would a make a perfect sight , sound and I bet a Lump in the thoat aswel. Just wondering would the Panton brothers let the BBMF fly Just Jane aswel as there own ?
Its funny that there could be a 2nd Lancaster flying in the UK and some people are saying no for it to fly 😀 😀 😀
James
Yes. It used to carry a M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon. They were removed during the 1990s. It was remotely controlled from the crew compartment in the B-52H.
TJ
Thank you for that TJ i though they did as I think I remember seeing one on the DUX B-52 I guess they were there for the Vietnam War?

James
The Red that didn’t take part was involved in a bird strike on the way back from Silverstone.
Pilot managed to land OK though.
Oh thats good to hear he landed ok bad news for the birs though.

We have one unique flying Lancaster courtesy of the BBMF, isn’t that enough.
It’s always a pleasure to see this aircraft flying at so many events, it’s rarity adds to the value of seeing it, how many times have we seen this aircraft in action, so many, but lets leave it at that.
I last saw Just Jane when it was parked outside of Scampton, I’ve never been up to EK to appreciate the taxi runs, but from what I read and see, it’s a bit of an occasion.
I think we should appreciate what we have at the moment, the BBMF Lanc seems to fullfill the sight and sound of this wonderful aircraft, putting a privately owned version back in the air could be a financial disaster for the Panton brothers, what airshow managers are going to pay out for a privately owned example when you can get the BBMF routine with the spitfire and hurricane that we all know and love.
Yes, 2 examples of this classic aircraft flying together would be a wonderful sight, really, thats all we want to see isn’t it, but it doesn’t make sense in the end for those that have to finance it.
Lets be happy in the knowledge that if anything terrible happened to PA474, that we have at least a replacement working Lancaster that could step into her shoes.
Don’t do it boys, leave things as they are.
I can see where your coming from there Peter as I was thinking if I owned a 617 sqn Dambuster lancaster  What would happen to BBMF Lancaster as I know people would wanna see the 617 lanc more then PA474 :D but anyway I can see what you mean by airshows and the BBMF routine , the only way i can see it working is if BBMF have just jane but that would never happen the only other way is if BBMF fly Just Jane but the panton brothers still own her a bit like the Kennett aviation Seafire which is flown by the RNHF. But it would be good if Two Avon Lancasters where flying in the UK
Having a ride in a Lancaster I pay for that even if it coast a bit to do
James
Dunno if it’s real or not but it’s painted up in TNT colours quite nicely!
Paul

For me it has two be a two seater Typhoon just wanna show it of at airshows and the crowds go wow with a very high speed run at the end :p A Hawker Typhoon I liked the Hawker Typhoon and thought it be a ggod flypast with Old and new typhoons. A GR 3 Harrier to me they where the best looking harriers aswel as the last of the Sea Harriers but I like to own one so that I can again show it off at airshows and that my name would be know in britian for owning a Harrier.
and a Avro Lancaster 617 sqn dambuster just a fantastic dream to own one and the sound and Honour for those who flew them in the war.
Oh and a Spitfire I would like the one based at East Kirkby as everyone wants one of them 😀
Sorry if to long could not help myself 😀
