I think that absolutely nob on!
Extremist yobs!
I cant help thinking about an old kenny Everett character; ‘Round them up, put them in a field and bomb the B*^$£#%s!!
mossies
wasnt Cosfords Mossie used in 633 squadron?
also, i take it that liberator in the background is the one that ferried through duxford back in the seventies? dont know why but i thought that was the one that used to be at Cosford now at Hendon.and doesnt it look good in natural metal, were far too keen to paint airframes siver over here instead of trying to maintain the natural finish!
Whats the blue stuff on the glazing? is it some sort of paint or a film?
Dambuster cast
To my mind two British actors who would be ideal are Ian Holm as Wallis. i feel he has just the right
amount of eccentricity to bring Wallis’ character to life and Rafe Spall as GIbson, he has the correct age , stance and facial contours as well as a fabulous acting pedigree to bring the Gibson character to life.Check them out on Google images and tell me what you think.
The next ‘Gibson!’
Id say Rafe Spall would make an excellent Gibson, hes got youth on his side and has a similar stance.
Does it really matter? As long as theres a storyline then someone will try and remake it, Not all re-makes fall short of the original, The Flight Of the Phoenix with dennis Quaid was pretty damn good, though i still say that neither film made enough of the Drama of that huge powerful, throbbing ,vibrating Radial engine coming back to life to save them all! I hope that this new Dambuster film goes some way to put right the ills of the original and that more emphasis is put on the type of dam and the different techniques involved in trying to destroy them. Too much accuracy with characters would probably make for a very shaky film, Wallis was im led to beleieve a man of few words and Gibson would therefore be best played by HarryEnfield’s character of mr Cholmondeley -warner! I also hope that full use of actual Lancaster airframes be made thus making for realism and putting some much needed funds in the pockets of CWH and the Panton brothers! Does Mr Jackson know that there is a substantial lump of Lincoln fuselage extant in the uk(North Coates)? That could be utilized for some close up Underbelly shots.Im waiting patiently to go and see this with my kids and help carry on the story of these brave men of 70 years ago.Do you think theyll use the same music? or will Adele be brought in?
I would really like to see this!does anyone have a postcode for the area of the dam, so i can get along there, i was out having a country amble some years ago and had no idea where the derwent was!
ive seen some dedication in my time, but this guy takes the biscuit!
Classic Air Force
I guess the only problem taking on something like the VC10 is the sheer size of the beast! A) would it fit in the hangar? B) the amount of space other aircraft could be using to shelter from the British climate and C) it appears that CAF are looking to put together a flyable fleet , what are the chances of flying a VC!0 in privatye hands?, I would have thought a Comet would have been a more achievable goal but theyve all been ground bound for so long that that looks like a pipe dream too.Let the boys down there do what theyre doing and lets hope its not too long before the twin pin gets some air under its wings, Whilst im typing, What about a Viscount? Now theres something i would like to see on the circuit!
Classic air force
Whilst i was one of the first to ‘mouth off’ when i heard that Airbase was moving south, its good to see these airframes undercover and being re-assembld and looked after. Despite the southern location making it a bit much for a day out i will make the effort to go down during the summer, its such a shame that the colllection has been disjointed and that the Shackleton, Nimrod and to a certain extent the Dc-6 Diner couldnt join them in what appears to be a very modern airy environment. Good luck Mr Collett and crew and i hope you go on to aquire further airframes with view to flying them.Has the twin pin moved south yet?. I look forward to further reports and photos of the collection.
SHACKLETON RUNS
Youre not thinking of engine runs on that day too are you? now the temperature is picking up i might be swayed to pop along!
