Thought you’d never ask,
When i left school i worked for a company moving coal about the county, so i used to get a lift on the last lorry out of the site home.One day we rounded a corner a bit fast ,and a black dog shot across the road, bump ,the truck hit it.We skidded to a halt, and on the pavement opposite lay the black dog.The driver said to me check it and you’ll have to put it out of its misery if its still alive.I went over to the dog while he went for the big shovel,the poor thing was breathing very shallow and the leg twitched now and again.After much arguing ,i agreed to dispatch the poor animal.With a heavy swing i did the job ,and almost immediately a chap shot up and asked what wed done. The driver and myself started to explain the situation, he said it was his dog ,and it often slept on the pavement out side his gate,just then the driver nudged me and pointed to a BLACK dog sat on the other pavement, totally unharmed.
