All great stuff folks, keep them coming .I have a work friend who told me of a old lad he worked with who was wounded in Africa and Italy a total of four times, he said he wrote a letter addressed to Hitler to remind him there was more than him in this war 🙂
my grandfather said nothing of his war, but i was told he had been to belson shortly after its liberation, the very same camp where my mums side last saw most of their family alive. My other great-uncles would share stories with me ,but even then say fifty years after, it was painful for them,my biggest regret is that i didnt spend more time with them to hear more stories.

Great grandad served at the somme earned himself the DCM.
I had the unenviable task of sorting through some old personal belongings and photos of a passed away great uncle and found a photo of a war grave in france. No surviving members of family to ask ,it stuck in my memory until i got the tintanet, i found the cemetery, his pte number, even his last address must say a very emotional moment when it appeared on the screen i intend on visiting his grave and thought of taking some earth from home to put on it.
