Bv138 definately.
Ah, the ‘secret’ that those in the know have known about for months………Dont get too excited, it’s not moving very far! 😉
I can state categorically that the TBM at North Weald will not be going to the Netherlands. 😀
I heard that the DC3 poppy drop was being allowed, but the Spitfires were not. Maybe something to do with the fact that a Spitfire is operated on a Permit to Fly, and the DC3 is on a Cert of Airworthiness?
Nice to see George French’s Tiger Moth G-BACK/DF130 is still around……
Here’s a thought after yesterdays Duxford show:
If the Americans can fly across the world, bomb the natives and then return home without loss to medals and hero worship from the homeboys, then why can’t they fly from Mildenhall and find the display line at Duxford, not more than 30 miles away? The KC-135 was OVER the crowd in a big way, the F-15s over a piece of bare ground about a mile to the south! Oh dear……
And when exactly did you see it Mike? Was it sometime afterwards or did you see it actully happen i’e the aircraft landed with the prop missing? The prop was removed after the incident…..

The prop was damaged and removed.
Lets just say some of us on this forum have a little more ‘Hands on’ knowledge of things like this than others, and I hate to see tabloid journalism creeping into this forum 😀
Hughie Green flew a Catalina registered G-AP**, not sure until i get home what the exact registration was…
I think having an afterburner fitted moves the aircraft into the ‘complex’ type category, and therefore needs manufacturers type back-up and support.
I’m led to believe that it will fly eventually, and the question about the afterburner rests on the fact that although it has one, its use is not required to enable the aircraft to take off ‘normally’.
I heard that it was the Beaufighter, Fiat CR42 and TF-51D limbering up for a possible appearence at Legends 2006……
………..But then , It was almost certainly a group of Yaks from the Formation School at North Weald.
Top Gear have in the past filmed at Kemble, Dunsfold and Bentwaters.
Latest news – Both aircraft took off from Jersey en-route for DX at 1715hrs 🙂
Is that really you GAXAN? (not the one with the boobs)
Maybe a bit more serious than we thought. According to the guys who were on duty that day she lost bits of the engine including the whirly thing on the front. She’s going nowhere for a while yet as she’s still sat out on the airfield looking very sad with no prop on the front. Amazing how something as small as a Tiger Moth prop hub can be so conspicuous by its absence.
Never heard so much rubbish….Ses G-AXAN’s post above The prop never departed, and the aircraft only had a rough running engine, so landed back onto the airfield after taking off on Rwy 27. Left MLG collapsed after a fairly heavy landing. A fairly minor incident me thinks.
…..Or did anyone else see the pilot avoiding a school as he fought with the controls, combined with ‘Harvard like’ engine sound in the background, followed by a HUGE American style fireball…….?
