So basically its a delta wing planform, not a conventional layout. Looks like the FB-22 images that floated around years ago.

… but in the video You can see the tiny tail rudders !

Worth noting: Komsolosk-On-Amur is 10 hours ahead of UTC, so a flight at say 1pm there, would be 3am UTC, 4am CET, 10pm EST

In other words, it’s possible, if all goes well and the PAK-FA isn’t the greatest hoax of all time – that we could be looking at pictures over breakfast tomorrow morning in Europe.

Uppps Just noticed Your post !!

THANKS … that was exactly what I was hoping for !

According to insiders, No television will be there except for the official sukhoi one; Thus, the media will be sent to russian TVs few hours after the first flight.

So we can except footage for tomorrow …if it flies tomorrow.

YES … but “tomorrow” and even a “few hours” can be quite very long if You eagerly wait for something.

So … just let me guesss: 1. Flight between 10-11 hours local time … when can we expect the first pictures here in Europe in the Key-Forum ?!!

    Need I take a free day ??

Does anyone have an idea when (at what time) we “could” expect the first pictures to see here in Europe following a succesful first flight ??

Hmmm … “was” indicated that they are beginning to test quite early a morning.

Any idea what’s usually – if there is – the “best” time we can expect such an event ?

5th gen fighter will fly this month

    http://www.militarynews.ru (18 January 2009)

You need a subscription to read the full article.

Can You please give a brief summary, if a given date is noted ?

Otherwise I believe it when I see it … they are takling about “will fly this month” for much too long.

Somebody please save this thread by posting new pictures. Funny how the ‘B’ model has just started flight testing and people are already crowning it a success.

Agreed … and therefore the last picture (I think even if already posted in the PLAAF-tread).

That is irrelevant. Industries bring their (degraded) simulators to air shows and exhibitions all the time where anybody can “fly” them. I have personally used the simulators of Super Hornet, Rafale, Gripen and F-16 on various occasions. No big deal really. Also high ranking officers typically are shown off to those sims by industry lobbyists.

Except that the picture in question is CLEARLY not in an exhibition or show.

That is not irrelevant. It should not. Actually, it should not have canopy at all!!!

Agreed … and all are arguments that this is not a Rafale simulator but something in a Russian hangar ! If the real-T-50 or a simulator of it or something else is another question !

It is very pity. It is very shame to me ๐Ÿ™

Hรครครค ??? Why … (I think it’s really not my best day today !)

Care to elaborate? Who said anything about knots and rafale writings??? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    He:

And on it you can see RAFALE written above !!! looks like a duck , quacks like a duck …

    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/KHdV6UTlHJ5KLm9ZKt6gkg

PS: and since when the russians talk in knots???

Besides that: was there ever a visit to Dassault of a high-ranking Russian military delegation taking a seat in a Rafale-simulator ?? … and why should this simulator have a rearward-opening canopy ??

Sorry … but maybe I’m blind or stupid – or even both – … where do You see Rafale or anything in knots or even a display in the picture with Gen. Zelin !! (and I think that’s the only picture we are diuscussing now)

Besides that the seat looks really verry much like a Mk.16 !

oh it will definitely look a little different from the Tejas Mk1, thats for sure. but it’ll likely be only when you pay close attention. someone pretty reliable said that the IAF wanted a couple of additional pylons as well, but that information is purely a rumour as yet.

look at the Gripen Demo- to most untrained eyes, its almost the same as the Gripen D from which it was built. only when you look closely will you see the new fairing for the landing gear and the size of the intakes look very similar, although it was made larger for the Gripen Demo.

Agreed … but to an untrained eye, the J-10 is still a Lavi-clone ! :diablo:

as for getting a 1/72 scale model of the Tejas- I don’t think we’ll see one, not till it enters service in a big way and even then I’m not sure..I mean look around, you won’t find a single model of the Dhruv either, and its been in service for several years now and been exported. most model makers concentrate on western and Russian makes and China has some model makers who make Chinese aircraft models too. In India, scale aircraft modelling is not at all popular. When I was a youngster looking to model aircraft, kits were imported and cost a lot in India. it was easier to make models by yourself using stuff available at home.

    And that’s a pitty !! ๐Ÿ™
