It will look exactly the same as the current LSP versions, there are no pictures, the tender for the 99 engines with a option of 45 is underway.

But it will have a larger wing and intake … so not exactly the same ! … and esp. these small differences are intersting !

Besides that … is there a chance of getting a model kit preferrable in 1/72 scale of that bird ??? PLEASE !!!

HAL’s issue was delivering LCA on time. For it to be offered for export one would assume that the LCA MK2 be ready and already inducted in the IAF. Once the thing is developed and in squadron service with the IAF I do not think HAL will have problems offering it to other customers.

Yes, but even this was’t done in time ??? (to admit similar to all other current fighters) … and when will the Mk.2 be fylaing … when will it be cerified …. and when will it be in service in substantial numbers ???

Production has never been an issue getting the product ready in time was/is.

Are You sure ?? … If I’m correct – but sorry; I don’t remember the source – it was stated that HAL could currently only deliver 8-12 Tejas per year even if they wanted to produce more.

    1. Can you give links proving the Gripen cost 31 million for the Swedish AF.

    2. The Gripen NG is comparable to the Tejas MK2, but is likely to be more expensive. Its advantage over the Tejas is SAABs proven track record of success and delivering stuff on time. This is exactly why I believe Tejas is not being considered for the MRCA.

    3. What is flying is Gripen demo, basically a testbed for the systems that are going into the Gripen NG. Like I said it is more advanced in its development path than the MK2 Tejas but thats all. The Tejas MK1 will see squadron service earlier than any Gripen NG, so your comparison is wide off the mark.

Sorry to step in in this – IMO – completely useless discussion !

You are right, the current flying Gripen NG is “only” a testbed and maybe not 100 % the proposed serial version … but as You stated by Your own: SAABs proven track record of success and delivering stuff on time proved – and here in sharp contrast to HAL – that in a very short time such a machine could be converted, again updated now with an AESA and ready for production in a much shorter time than Your proposed Tejas Mk. 2, which is at the moment nothing more than a paper-tiger – even with good proposed performances and price – which will fly only when … ????

Sorry, but given HAL’s record in testing and delivering a proven capable fighter in comparison to Saab, I would always take the Gripen, even if a “bit” more expensive. Also, how many aircraft can HAL produce per year ? … 8-12 at best as stated some time ago. 🙁

That surely should not dereil HAL’s or ADA’s succes in developing a moderne fighter suitable to replace the MiG-21, but IMO it is far from that succesful to compete on the world market.

…. that the PAK FA, also known as the T-50 and “Article 701,” will begin to reach the Russian air force inventory from 2015.

Sorry, but this last sentence makes me suspicious about this info’s reliability !

Is far as I know, the PAK-FA = T-50 … but the Article 701 is or better was something completely different beast from Mikoyan and once planned as a successor to the MiG-31.

Why not , it can compete with Gripen in that category.

Most important from India’s strategic point of view , they should export it to countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh even if it means subsiding it.

On the export market it can compete well, the only catch factor will be its engine (EJ-200/F-414 ) , so they have to make sure which ever engine gets selected it comes with exports right or no string attached.

In theory agreed … but how realistic is this ????
They are working since years on that fighter with more or less reasonable results, HAL itself admits that they corrently can only build 8 – maximum 12 – Tejas per year … and all of then will go to the IAF for sure.
All who wants a fighter that “can compete with Gripen in that category”, why not take the original one, the Gripen A/B ? There will be several surplus and new ones on the market and in mind of costomer reliablity, standing as a brand I don’t know if one would like to test HAL’s in comparison to SAAB’s credibility to deliver on tiome, on cost and the performance requested.

I would have personally liked if they had worked with Klimov and built a 10 Ton thrust version of RD-33 , with the marketing arm of Rosboronexport targeting all the Mig-21/27 customers worldwide ( Latin America/Africa/Asia ) looking for a capable replacement , this way it would have been financially and strategically beneficial for both countries.

Also agreed in theory … but I think – even without the engine-issue – that step was done by HAL competitor a vew miles more in the East, in Chengdu.

For sure they would need approval, … but honestly: what are the chances for the Tejas of being selected by a foreign customer ??? (and that’s not because of any politicla or technical issues to start a flame war)

Offical Statement Regarding China’s fourth Generation Fighter
The PLAAF public relations department confirmed the reported “fourth generation fighter [J-xx]” is based on the improved J-10 design. This confirmation was published by the Xinhua News Agency and the PLA daily.

… seems the original source of the english version from the link above !

Apparently this so-called “official statement” actually came from the blog of Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong, an NDU professor who often appears on CCTV. Interestingly, just before Admiral Zhang came out with his new blog entry, CCTV had aired the first half of an interview with him describing a stealthy 4th gen. fighter which will fly “in one to two years”. The second half of that interview was never aired. You be the judge. Here is someone’s analysis, that Zhang got into trouble with his big mouth and is trying to back-pedal…

@ Tutpriduri ! … Just let me ask one question !

Is this a special hobby to collect blue-coloured after-burner pictures of Russian aircrafts ????

Maybe You should start another tread about this, and therefore I would like to remind You to the original topic’s title:
