if the Russians ever build this, I might say this new one would be the best

these twin island designs are warming up to me

Indeed a handsome and impressive design; the main-issue however is simply that concerning Russian hardware and esp. such a mega-project – they are and will remain WHAT-IFs!

Chinese Stealth J-20 Jet Enters Service With PLA

I really don’t know why this is only now on the agenda by the media. It is known since 6th December, that the J-20 entered service.

Off white vs gloss white would show the same contrast (tail tip) Just b/c off white is darker than gloss does not make it grey

You guys are indeed funny !!!

Are still convinced that it is a dark-white on the body and a light-white on the tip ??

… and concerning “GREEN” … the colour on the C919’s tail is what I would call green.

since some people are obviously color blind, hopefully they are not illiterate either.

It’s really funny that You still prefer to repost older reports regardless how dated and probably wrong they are instead of looking and thinking on Your own.

IMO this whole stupid – or at least completely sense-less – discussion is more on semantics and individual perception but on facts. The J-20’s colour esp. on the 2001 & 2002 demonstrators is indeed unique and depending the image You pick up it is indeed a bit greenish (maybe olive), dark grey, charcoal or whatever. But again it is more a matter of light than that the colour is true green like grass ! 🙂

The H-6 however is at least IMO clearly light-grey with white tail-tips.

you better tell your boss, Tom, his artwork used the wrong color, unless you think this is not dark green
    https://image.ibb.co/gjP4RF/J_XX.jpg

H6 bomber is a tricky one, i would say it is either a dirty white or a very very light grey

You take a first rough sketch of the J-20 from 2011 as final testimony that the J-20 is green ?!!! Come on ! Just look at his latest drawings at ACIC and by the way, why do You think he’s my boss.

Even more on the H-6, their tail tip is white and You can clearly see the difference to the rest of the body, which is grey.

Yeah the modernized H6 bombers are white so why not make some J 20’s white. Maybe the dedicated interceptors will be white.

Not sure if some of You are colourblind, but the J-20 is not green and the modernised H-6 are not white !!! :very_drunk:

Yes … since Milka is a quite famous brand of chocolate in Germany.

U didn’t answer my query or if you did, i didn’t understand it. What counts as a clean sheet design to you ? If the engine location and landing gear dimensions/components are the same , does that mean its not a clean sheet design ?

Because under the Russia design philosophy, they wouldn’t consider it a clean sheet design and they’d like it that way.

Reason I mention landing gear and engines is because some people use it as a slight against the Pak Fa and call it a stealth flanker because it has similar landing gear/engine placement as the su 35.

Ok … then I misunderstood Your post; SORRY.

IMO it is clearly a new design in the same way the T50 is surely not a flat- or Stealthy-Flanker but a new design !
Those are surely the same guys who think the J-10 is a Lavi-development and the J-8 is a development of the MiG-23. 😀

Even if all you do is keep the tried and tested carrier ready landing gear configuration and basic engine location/spacing of the Mig 35 and build everything else around that , you consider that a fail… ? why ?

Clean sheet is starting form rock bottom. Everything can be an unforeseen problem. As they are seeing with the F 35.

Pardon, but if I follow Your suggestion and use the gear, the engines (+ maybe avionics) and “build everything else around that” it has to be structurally, shape-wise a new design, a design no longer related to the MiG-35. Everything else is a Stealthy-Fulcrum at best, but not a fifth generation type.

And what then do You get ?? something in the size & dimensions comparable to the FC-31 or a look-alike type.

Russia rightly avoids clean sheet designs if it can.

But then this is a fail even before it started ! You cannot develop a MiG-35-based fifth generation design. You can surely use some subsystems, but structurally and airframe-wise it has to be a new design.
