I agree it seems to be that book !! Does anyone know it or could manage to take a look at it.
He was also speeking of maybe two profiles ????
Deino
… Does anyone have this book or know these profiles ??
Cheers, Deino
… just searched a little and it seems to be one of these profiles from this book.
I know that this is an old thread, but there is an interesting discussion going on at the SAAf forum. Towards the end of the thread there are two 2 gentlemen that are aerospace engineers that have seen the windtunnel models.
More interesting is the statement from leading edge about that “mysterious” book with the side profiles.
Deltawingman, I have read the book which has 1 or 2 small side profiles only of the Carver. I can also give you a rundown on some of the text, which is mainly covered in various internet forums with 1 or 2 pieces of info I did not know about. Overall it is slightly speculative…

Sokol to Produce New MiG
OAO Nizhniy Novgorod Sokol Aircraft Building Plane (NAZ) will begin series production of a new MiG airplane model in 2010, the general director of the plant, Mikhail Shibaev, reported yesterday. The Sokol department manager for public communications, Igor’ Chenichenko, explained that the Mikoyan design bureau is involved with the Sokol design bureau in development of the new model. The Russian Federation defense ministry and Rosoboronehksport will be customers for the new MiG model. Mikhail Shibaev noted that right now the plant’s retooling, equipment upgrade and build up of capabilities are underway. ((Financial stuff snipped.)

Hey a new … old picture ! 😉
[Same news but what is that aircraft shown on top?
That’s just a Su-27 … what version I don’t know but look at the small air-inkae on the tail and so on ! … just a FLANKER !
Deino
After years of knowing crobato’s fine time-line of Chinese FLANKER-service I stumbled across this passage:
2002 June. There was an acceleration of production in SAC, XAC and CAC plants with full 24 hour shifts. This suggests a major effort to increase J-11 production rate to as high as 30 to 40 a year . It was reported that four “case hardened” J-10s have joined an SU-27 unit for evaluation and had mock dogfights with SU-27s.
The J-11 are’n build at Chendu’s CAC plant !!!??? … it only means that production in all factories has been accellerated .. in CAC for the J-10, in XAC for the JH-7A and in SAC for the J-11.
Quite funny as this – like my mis-interpretation – can be found on several other sites stating that the J-11 is now froduced at three factories.:D

Got mine today – must say the J-10 article is well worth it. Great to see so much stuff in one place, and the drawings are really nice. (I’m also very partial to a bit of B-29/50 as well, so I’m happy)
Thanks and nice to hear that You like that article.
