Aerial pictures of the J-10 posted by OverLordUSA at CMF.

Have You noticed that the PL-8 are missing, which are usually fitted to serial machines !!!!! 😉

Great post, Pinko! A three J-10s in primer!

Seems pretty evident that production is in high gear!

That was also my idea …. I think its probable more a recent than an earlier picture ! It reminds to some pictures posted in a German forum from Manching, where the German Eurofighter is produced and You can see the newly produced aircraft making their “individual” first flights !

JH-7A zooming along with what looks like an 80X series air-launched AShM.

That’s quite in intresting picture and regarding the fin arrangement and the blue colour it looks like a new version … don’t know which ??

Besides that … there are some ongoing rumours … :dev2:

In an additional note, found this on a war-sky thread, not sure where the original poster got this from:
    通讯:4月中旬,十号解密

    4月中旬,中国航空50周年庆祝表彰大会将在人民大会堂隆重举行,介时,一集团凝聚航空人十数载心血的重点 型号将做为报告表彰的重点内容之一,以丰富详实的宣传资料展现给公众。

Basically, it just says that an important item from AVIC1 is officially coming out in the middle of April in China’s aerospace’s 50th birthday in people’s hall. There will be some information on this. Well, unless this is talking about a mysterious J-7 or J-8 variant, I think we can safely say this is J-10’s coming out party. We might even see clips of it on CCTV.

A swing-wing Q-5? Now that would be interesting.

On that picture of the huge targeting pod is that even fitted under a Q-5? It looks like a J-7 or a larger J-8 to me for some reason……

It’s under a JJ-7 … but as huitong writes in his description and by comparing the small and grainy Q-5E/F-picture with this huge “pod” I thought there are some similarities !

    What do You think ???

    Maybe in Zhuhai 2006 !!! 😮

    … but sorry, I don’t know the source !

    🙂 j1o with sd10

Just one question regarding the ongoing discussion on later or earlier aircraft, prototypes, pre-serial and serial machines and their differences !

I always thought that the later production machines can be distinguished from their earlier cousins’ esp. by their 3-part gear door arrangement. For that particular bird “1013” we assume it as a pre-production machine and we know many pictures of it with the older two-door arrangement.

Then there appeared that strange PL-12 equipped J-10A picture with the typical light grey-blue grey older camouflage with the latest doors but its numbers erased !

Here on this picture it seems that our old friend no. 1013 now has the new doors re-fitted !!!

    Any comments ???

to meet Mr. Lu Xiao Peng at the Nanchang Aircraft Corporation in 1987. He was a fine and clever guy. There was a study to give swinging wings to Q-5.

    Cheers from Brazil

Do You have any more information on this … maybe esp. a drawing ????

    Thanks, Deino 🙂

I just had an idea regarding the latest Q-5E & Q-5F versions ….

The development of the new Q-5E/F variants finally fulfilled PLAAF’s requirement to deliver PGMs (mainly LGBs). The exact status of this project is unknown even though prototypes have been seen flying. Due to the limited payload the aircraft can deliver, a typical CAS mission is accomplished by both variants: at least one Q-5F carrying a FLIR/LT pod either semi-recessed into or underneath its belly and several Q-5Es each carrying two LS-500J 500kg LGBs (comparable to American PAVEWAY I) under its wings. A small fairing is seen underneath the nose which may house an ALR-1 laser rangefinder to achieve better bombing accuracy. It was speculated that Q-5E/F can also carry anti-radiation missiles as well for SEAD missions.

    Source: http://mil.jschina.com.cn/huitong/q-5_jh-7_h-6.htm

I was then checking huitong’s site again where this larger picture of a landing machine is posted and below its belly it looks realy like a huge “FLIR/LT pod” … then I remembered this “pod” being tested under a JJ-7 and I always asked why such a huge pod under such a small plane …. maybe it’s a combined fuel-sensor pack which fills the “old” weapons bay ???

What do You think !!!???

Nice pic on Q-5 80572 (7th Division PLANAF?). It appears the plane has radar and could carry antiship missiles. It must be a prototype but it has operational colors and unit.

That’s right !!! Even if this picture is not new, but until now I always thought the specialised naval-version Q-5B (as seen in prototype form in the same post above) never entered operational use … nor that there was ever an improved machine other than the prototype !

    Thanks, Deino 😉

Two-seater Mirage 4000? I have something for you!
Once upon a time in Internet was “the whatif modeler forum”. (Don’t try to find that on google, it had been hacked recently by a ******* bull**** , so virus will infect your computer.)
I registered on this forum and meet a nice guy name Pollux Delta Seven. We talk a bit about Mirage 4000 and this guy had made profile of a two seater Mirage 4000.
This is the two seat nuclear strike Mirage 4000 by Pollux Delta Seven…

    It’s once again online !!!! …. But I always expected a Mirage-4000 twin-seater to have a more F-15B/D-like canopy !

AdA and Aeronavale plan to buy 234+60 Rafale. But due to the cost, production will not end until… 2020 or more!
Mont de Marsan CEAM (test center) receive one Rafale every two months or something like that. The aim is having 12 rafale in August, to make the first AdA squadron in Saint Dizier.

    Thanks alot for that info !! …. only i ac/2 months …. 😮 seems not very cost-effective !?!

By the way are there any pictures of these aircraft ??

Besides that one additional thing makes me wonder: From Eurofighter we see in regular steps new pictures from new units … from France = nothing !!???

Can anyone tell, what’s the production rate for the Rafale (I know it’s much lower than for the EF !), but so far I have only seen one small picture of a Rafale-B or -C in service !

    Thanks, Deino 🙂

hehe … I was just playing around again as crobato posted that strange one picture of a J-10 carrying the number 50150 … maybe from the 130th Regiment/44th Fighter division I decided to change the numbers from the 131st Regiment to 51252 !!

    Cheers, Deino
