A somewhat “stealthified” Backfire with PAK-FA engines and radar etc should be nice… 😉

Nooo 😮 … please more akin to the T-4MS !!

    yeh,i remember it too.perhaps was refering to t-50-3 :confused:2011 is ending,still no surprise:rolleyes:

Sorry, but what do You expect ??? A kingon-bird-of-prey-like cloaking device … an enlarged, super-wide extra-weapon bay or WHAT !??

If we read carefully and listen to what’s written we all knew that T50-3 won’t be much different to the other two birds (at least if the radar is an already working one it is IMO a giant leap for itself) and also the initial serial versions won’t be much different. So IMO here are some still overemotional and hyperenthusiastic … too much wishfull thinking in advance of Christmas. 😉

    Well, ugh, surprise as promised.

Thanks … but I had hoped for a overall-grey camo and not again that “strange” (I don’t like it) blue on the bottom. 🙁

Maybe an interesting chart with the J-20’s dimensions were posted ! (regardless its reliability)
With a little bit help from some friends at the SDF (since words are not very clear when zoomed in) … it seems like:

    – length 21.26 m
    – Fuselage width 3.94m
    – Wing span 12.88m
    – Height 4.45m
    – Canard span 7.62m

    – Empty weight 17 tons
    – ..?.. 25tons

    – Cruise speed 1.83
    – Max speed 2.5m

    – Ceiling 20,000m
    – Combat radius 2,000km
    – Ferry range 5500km

    – Crew 1

Yes I know this one too, but I think this seems to be the second prototype or the first one painted.

Besides that do You have an idea, of how many J-15 have been produced so far ?

Japanese F-15J/DJ has a major difference in two types.
    F-15J/DJ Pre-MSIP (J:#801-#898, DJ:#051-062)
    F-15J/DJ J-MSIP (J:#899-, DJ:#063-)

Japanese MOD planned to modify 88 F-15J/DJ J-MSIP and this is called F-15J/DJ Kai.
    1. Mod1
    – new central computer
    – AN/APG-63 to AN/APG-63(v)1
    – improvement on air conditioning device and generator
    – AAM-4B
    – making provision for JTIDS/TADIL J
    and so on.

    In FY2002-2006, budgeted for 9 F-15Js.
    ———–
    2. Mod2
    – all of Mod1 menu
    – AAM-5/helmet mounted display
    – JTIDS/TADIL J

    In FY2002, 2007-2011, budgeted for 53 F-15Js.
    ———–
    3. Improve on self defense capability
    – Joint Electric Warfare System
    – AN/ALE-45J to AN/ALE-47

    budgeted for 5 F-15Js from FY2010.
    ———–
    4. IRST

One F-15J was modified and Japanese MOD requests two F-15J to modify in FY2012. It means IRST development program is finally finished.
    ———–

The cost efficiency was so bad to modify F-15J/DJ Pre-MSIP, Pre-MSIP will be equipped with JDCS(F), Digital Communication System. This makes F-15J having data link to JADGE system.

Thanks a lot, but just regarding the IRST update … no actual serial aircraft has been converted ?? Only a simgle prototype conversion !? Overall have all aircraft as projected been modified and what’s the plan for the future esp. in regard to the SLAR-recce-capaple ones ??

And just to go back to the original topic: can anyone summarise what’s the current status for the P-1 and C-2 for both flight testings !??

    Thanks, Deino

China’s refitted aircraft carrier platform sets sail for 2nd trial

    http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/china/2011-11/29/c_131276715.htm

BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) — China’s refitted aircraft carrier sailed for its second sea trial on Tuesday for relevant scientific research and experiments, Chinese Ministry of National Defense said in a press release.

According to the press release, prior to sailing, the aircraft carrier had completed all the refitting and testing work as scheduled after its first sea trial in August.

The carrier was originally built by the former Soviet Union which named it Varyag, yet failed to complete the ship’s construction before collapsing in 1991. The still-unnamed aircraft carrier was an empty shell. Ukraine disarmed it and removed its engines before selling it to China.

The vessel, an Admiral Kuznetsov class aircraft carrier which measures 304.5 meters long and 37 meters wide, with a displacement of 58,500 metric tons, has been totally refitted for its new role as a research and training platform in China.

The vessel departed for its first trial from a port in Dalian, a city in northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Aug. 10.

The building of an aircraft carrier is a long and complex project. In the building process, there will be a series of scientific research experiments and training exercises, and such activities are routine and normal.

Currently, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Spain, Italy, India, Brazil and Thailand, operate a total of 21 active-service aircraft carriers.

Surely Knawa is a “most” reliable source and surely the Russians have all the knowing on the situation in China !! :diablo: 😀

Come on … these are again old stories warmed up as usually by Kanwa.
I’m almost sure that the problem regarding arrester geras is one of the minor ones before the carrier tests will begin.
